I'll review this soon. Seattle (talk) 23:59, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- Comments:
- and while Oxford saw more international rowers with four Americans and a Canadian do we need "while" here?
- Revised. The Rambling Man (talk) 06:31, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Do you know who replaced President Carver? If you didn't include the club Presidents, I assume you don't know them but I'll ask anyway.
- No, he withdrew several weeks prior to the race so there wasn't really a "replacement", as the crew hadn't been finalised when he withdrew. The Rambling Man (talk) 06:31, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Can you note the fastest time on record for reference? That's nice context.
- Did the police hats have to deal with the Police Act 1996 (assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty specifically)? Can you search for the two terms?
- Not sure I'm following you on this one, the source I have suggests that the change to caps was to prevent the helmets being stolen and thrown in the Thames (Jeeves & Wooster style). What are you asking me to add? The Rambling Man (talk) 06:31, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- I'm wondering if the hats changed because assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty became an offense under the Police Act 1996, and the police didn't want to arrest hundreds if spectators threw their hats into the Thames. Seattle (talk) 13:20, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- It may be coincidental. The source I have claimed "officers demanded a change. They said their dignity was in jeopardy.", no mention of avoiding mass arrests. In any case, British police tend to show a sense of restraint in these situations and would have preferred to avoid implementing the Police Act 1996 at all costs to prevent a riot... Besides, the act itself didn't receive Royal Ascent until the May after this race took place... The Rambling Man (talk) 13:53, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

OK. Seattle (talk) 00:37, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, just one outstanding query where I don't understand your point. Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 06:31, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
