I'm removed the links to Wikicelebrities biography links. They seem like a plug (the site has ads and has content on very few celebrities), and better, more official biographies are to be found at the official Biggest Loser site. Trevor Andersen 10:29, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unencyclopedic

[edit]

"The game may be over but the intrigue continues. Tune in on Sunday night at the special time of 8.30 as Network Ten reveals 'Secrets of The Biggest Loser'."

You're doing a good job mate, but please consider revising such statements because it's very unencyclopedic. --The Land of Smeg 12:09, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Final Results Tally

[edit]

It would be nice to have a final results tally for anyone keeping score or taped it to review the scores. A couple of tables can be included for "Overall rank by weight loss" and "Overall rank by game" in the format of Contestant|Starting Weight|Ending Weight|Weight Loss(kg|lbs)|Weight Loss %|Overall rank by weight loss|Rank(by weightloss|game). --The Land of Smeg 12:09, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Although this was an old comment, I have been interested to see the same, but compared with American contestants also. So I started the article List of The Biggest Loser Contestants. Which has the details you are after in there. Peter 10:31, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is copied from Wikipedia:External links

This page in a nutshell: Adding external links can be a service to our readers, but they should be kept to a minimum of those that are meritable, accessible and appropriate to the article.

What should be linked

  • Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site if any

Links normally to be avoided

  • Links mainly intended to promote a website.
  • Links to blogs and personal webpages, except those written by a recognized authority.

And from WP:NOT which Mythor (talk) suggested I check out

  • Mere collections of external links

So from this the external links section should have in it the official page and perhaps a few others that benefit the article, worthy of inclusion are the sites for Jillian and Bob as they are an integral part of The Biggest Loser so far and also seeing as they don't have their own article in Wikipedia yet. Another site that I feel should be included but may be too much is Adro's site seeing as he was the winner of the first season.

Kristie Dignam, Jo Cowling and David Hilyander's sites, which are essentially blogs are not worthy of inclusion as the article is about The Biggest Loser not the individual contestants, these sites would be okay on an article of that person but they're probably not notable enough for their own articles.

And finally there is a link to a site where someone with the same pen name as Mythor (talk) recaps the episodes of season two, unless Mythor is a professional writer like those that review for Television Without Pity then the link is nothing more a promotion for a website and that does not belong in Wikipedia. Firelement85 17:02, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Addition from Mythor 23:35, 8 February 2007 (UTC) Other contestant websites from previous seasons are also appropriate, as they are the official sites of people mentioned in the main article, and it is not the entire list of contestants being linked, so it is not an unreasonable number of links. These links, at the very least, should not be removed. They fit, without question, the guidelines set forth for External Links, in that they are the official websites of the people involved. These links should be phased out as the second season closes, to be replaced with appropriate links relevant to the second season.[reply]

The links I am putting back on the page are appropriate and meet the guidelines of Wikipedia. I'm sorry you disagree, Firelement85, but continuing to revert them without cause is not the right solution. Mythor 23:35, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A agree that the links on the article are the official websites of the contestants stated in the article. If the 2 seasons were split into two different articles as I think they should, the external links would only be relevant per season. Also because the contestants aren't notable enough for their own article, it makes sense to find out about them individually, photos etc dreictly from their official sites. Peter 09:14, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

splitting the article(s)

[edit]

I almost think each season is worthy of their own article, with breakup of each contestant, weekly challenges and game turnout-twists. There's also a bit of information to put in for after the game was played (eg. Wal has gained 30kg since being on the show, there's a few media reports with dietitian experts not agreeing with the quick-fix approach to dieting, Kristie and Adro are doing advertising etc for Subway and fitness places etc) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Aussiepete (talkcontribs) 06:15, 17 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

duplicated information

[edit]

The contestant information for season 1 is duplicated, just presented differently. I think most of the written text can be safely removed in place of the table data. Some of the additional notes are still useful to have. Peter 22:17, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update main article

[edit]

This article is up to date, but the main Biggest Loser article needs updating. It doesn't even mention Oz series #2. --irrevenant [ talk ] 06:03, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

contentstant images removed??

[edit]

Why have the contestant images been deleted? I put a bit of effort into getting these up. Peter 04:08, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

and they looked good too. I asked the question at Angr's talk page but from his previous answers they are : not fair use as they are copyright (from an internet site?), they are replaceable (the people are still alive and not recluses?), they are used just show what the people look like (they're not used for critical commentary) and "fair use image of a living person" seems to automatically tag the images for speedy deletion. This is all from the posts at User talk:Angr. I'd be pretty peeved off after doing all the work also. - Ctbolt 05:05, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The images were actually edited from ones displayed on the official site - they were a lower resolution and a part of the original image. Peter 13:52, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"fairness"

[edit]

What does that mean, that Adro was brought back for reasons of "fairness"? What was unfair about his elimination? Could someone supply some more details about this? Pimlottc 08:15, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Total Loss/Percent for Season 2

[edit]

Perhaps fill the Total loss and Percent columns for the active contestants if you are sorting by percentage lost? This way you can see how close they are. 203.59.186.208 03:44, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

rewards and challenges

[edit]

It would be good to list each challenge, reward and result for both seasons. Peter 09:19, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"The Biggest Loser has been parodied since its debut."

[edit]

The article says "The Biggest Loser has been parodied since its debut in Australia, The Chaser created a sketch called "The Biggest Muslim". It was about a faux reality TV show in which contestants lost their Islamic faith[1].". One comedy sketch, shown midway through the show's second season is a far cry from "parodied since it's debut". This sentence requires evidence of multiple parodies over a period of time to justify it. --irrevenant [ talk ] 10:32, 6 May 2007 (UTC)?[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ausbloserlogo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Ausbloserlogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:05, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
