@Pseud 14: I started review. Comments will be below. Review within 2023 GAN Backlog Drives. Eurohunter (talk) 19:23, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Background

[edit]
  1. It would be good after first sentence to introduce who Regine Velasquez is. Eurohunter (talk) 14:55, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Added. Pseud 14 (talk) 15:59, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  1. "It was confirmed that she will perform an Italian song titled "Per te" and the Academy Award-winning indie folk song "Falling Slowly"." - when? Eurohunter (talk) 14:55, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Added. Pseud 14 (talk) 15:59, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Synopsis

[edit]
  1. Are you sure that was exactly a "surprise performance"? Eurohunter (talk) 14:55, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, per this source stating a surprise number. It also promoted Alcasid, Kyla, and Jay R as the three main guests, hinting that it was considered a surprise performance during the actual broadcast. Another source also mentions just three artists. Pseud 14 (talk) 15:59, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pseud 14: Why you didn't use it as reference? Eurohunter (talk) 16:26, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Eurohunter: added now.

Other

[edit]
  1. 4 out of 7 references are indirectly or directly by GMA New Media. GMA New Media and GMA Network are subsidiaries of GMA Network (company). There are only two independent sources. Eurohunter (talk) 14:55, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  2. There is no more independent sources to cite? Eurohunter (talk) 14:55, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, unfortunately, there aren't a lot of secondary sources available online based on what I've checked. The primary sources in the article where used for non-controversial claims. Pseud 14 (talk) 15:59, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are no articles in languages of the Philippines? Eurohunter (talk) 16:27, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, all these are what I could source and are available online. Both English and Tagalog sources. Per WP:PRIMARYSOURCE, as long as they are reputably published, they can be used in the absence of secondary sources provided that they are descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the source and is not an interpretation, analysis or synthesis of the material found in the source. Pseud 14 (talk) 17:18, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking up this review Eurohunter. I have provided my responses above. Let me know if there's anything I might have missed. Pseud 14 (talk) 15:59, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Pseud 14: I'm not sure if the article is notable due to of lack of sources. Eurohunter (talk) 11:23, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Eurohunter: per WP:GNGSC There is no fixed number of sources required since sources vary in quality and depth of coverage, but an oft-quoted number is three. Pseud 14 (talk) 13:19, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pseud 14: "Life Speaks to Me" had 4-5 "direct" sources about song and few additional other sources and was redirected. Eurohunter (talk) 15:47, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Eurohunter: I would argue that your comparison is to a source issue with a single/song, per WP:NSONG, which employs a different set of criteria for notability and coverage like charts, etc. This article is a television special, and as far as the sources are concerned, these aren't trivial mentions and do not allocate only 2-3 sentences about the subject. It provides significant coverage (WP:SIGCOV) i.e. background on how the special came into fruition, preparations and what to expect from the show, venue challenges, where the performer took inspiration for the show's concept, and if available interviews from the performer to provide context. And unlike songs, television shows/specials include a synopsis, which relies on WP:FILMPLOT citing the media itself as the source. Again, it is not enough that secondary sources are cited, you may have 5-10 secondary sources but they offer passing mentions only and therefore considered poor sources, on the other hand you can utilize primary sources that provide significant coverage and are acceptable (in the absence of secondary/independent sources). If this remains an issue, I will ask for a second reviewer to have a look or raise this in the GAN talk page. Pseud 14 (talk) 17:07, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Might also add that following the article's creation, this was reviewed at WP:NPR and the reviewer has not raised the issue or concern. Nevertheless, a couple more sources have been added. The Philippine Star; Philippine Daily Inquirer
