Thal in Punjab, Pakistan

[edit]

I have removed the following content, as the degree of depth is not suitable for a disambiguation page:

Thal is a large sand desert in Punjab, Pakistan. It is located in/bounded by Jhang, Khushab, Minawali, Dera Ismail Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Muzaffargarrh Districts in western punjab. Two big rivers Jhelum(Jehlum) and Sind(Mehran, Indus) flow on both sides of Thal river. Jhelum merges in river Chanab(Chenab) at Trimmu Barage in Jhang and Chanab and Sind merge at Panjnad at the end of Thal. Thal is end of Punjab's agricultural plane lands. Koh-e-Suleman(Suleman's Mountains) and Kohistan-e-Namak(Salt Mountains) and Pothohar Planes bound Thal in North and West.

Thal and its surroundings have been center of several ancient civilizations like Gandhara(Budh Culture), Siwi Kingdom(Pre-historic Indian Culture), Loh Kot, Kafir Kot, etc .

Currently, Thal is mostly unpopulated and uncultivated area. A small portion is supplied water by Chashma irrigation system which is still under development.

Perhaps a separate article should be created. +A.Ou 19:03, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
