Please give me a few days to get this page into fair order. This person is notable; the prior deleted page has caused a bunch of red links around the place, the page exists in three or four other languages, and there is plenty of evidence of notability including within WP and projects already. @JimKillock: I deleted the article last time around because at the time it was a confused mess of semi-promotional and semi-fluff related paragraphs. This newer version is much better, though I confess I'm not seeing notability per se it does satisfy the requirements for inclusion as put down via WP:V, therefore insofar as the rebuild goes I congratulate you on the article's rebirth. I've gone ahead and tagged for the biography project, hopefully they can add some extra info. TomStar81 (Talk) 06:11, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think notability was said by the reviewers to be established through mainstream reviews of the children's books translations. There are also some mainstream press mentions of his Latin abilities. I must confess that for me his notability is his established high reputation within Latin academia; he is generally highly thought of. However the policy seems to establish that through some very specific signs, such as particular kinds of academic appointment, journal editorships, and celebratory publications. So for now, it's the former sources which have to be relied upon for notability, as I understand it. Jim Killock(talk)08:39, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
