RE: Possible Future Content
[edit]Hi there, I have added sections on the Tennis tournaments hosted by Tennis Australia. I have also included more information about each of the tournaments. The tournaments that you have stated are run by Tennis Australia. Tennis Australia regulates all the tennis tournaments in Australia from grassroots to professional. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CommunicativeWriter (talk • contribs) 05:01, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Possible Future Content
[edit]Perhaps this article should list all the lead up events to the Australian Open such as the Hobart International, Sydney International, Hopman Cup, Brisbane International and Kooyong Classic. I presume all these tournaments are run by Tennis Australia?
Also the article doesn't really mention anything to do with participation at a grass roots level or programs run to improve atheletes and development programs. Considering "Tennis in Australia" diverts to here I would have thought such topics need involvement. --TinTin (talk) 09:00, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
New fast format of tennis
[edit]In January 2015 Tennis Australia plan to launch a new fast format of tennis; a shortened version of the game: Federer to play Hewitt in world first for Sydney Thuen (talk) 18:19, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
trivial section in the article - 'Famous Australian Tennis Players'
[edit]I have added a section on 'Famous Australian Tennis Players'. However, this may not be very relevant to the article on 'Tennis Australia. So, feel free to remove it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CommunicativeWriter (talk • contribs) 09:41, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
Reference list
[edit]I have included all the references. However, the references only have URL, title and Website Name. This needs to be fixed.
Also, almost all of the 45 sources can be classified as secondary sources. The article is on 'Tennis Australia'. And I have only used Tennis Australia Website as a source for 4 times. (This is because I could not find that information anywhere else).
I would appreciate help in removing the 'hatnote improvement message' on the top of the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CommunicativeWriter (talk • contribs) 09:54, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
"Tennis Australia" versus "Tennis in Australia"
[edit]We have a situation. There are two articles, Tennis Australia about the governing body and Tennis in Australia, about the sport generally.
But, while the lead in Tennis Australia looks ok, the article is full of inappropriate content like:
- a section called "History of Tennis in Australia" (should be "History of Tennis Australia", or just "History")
- a section called "Famous Australian Tennis Players" (should be removed)
- lines like "tennis singles tournaments involve individual players competing against each other" (umm, yeah)
- the section "Major Tournaments Hosted by Tennis Australia" (note non-Wikipedia capitalisation) could be summed up in one paragraph, no need to cover all the details here unless they directly relate to Tennis Australia
Tennis in Australia's history section starts in the 1950s, we need to transfer over from the governing body article. Could also tranfer over the famous players section.
A biggish job. Anything I missed? Commander Keane (talk) 08:48, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
