village to Saturn
[edit]I have deleted all the rubbish about judgement day and the relocation of the village to Saturn. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mike kiehn (talk • contribs) .
External Links
[edit]I have previously added an external link to the page for Tenby, but this was removed by Trident13, who has suggested that I initiate a discussion on these Talk pages. I have read the Talk Page Guidelines I hope that the format of this message is correct. The link added was to www.tenbyvisitorguide.co.uk which I believe to be an informative and up to date source of information on the town, thereby enhancing the page. Other external links would appear to be less useful, in my opinion.Jonlangford (talk) 09:07, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message! The link that you repeatedly keep adding to this article and the article on Saundersfoot, you seem to have an interest in, and itself fails WP:EXT due to its excess commerciality (Google Adwords). We have had similar problems on the Fowey article, and so I have implemented the solution we put in place there by: (1) Removing all but official and WikiTravel links, (2) adding the link to DMOZ, where you can add your link and get a backlink credit. Layout of Walls
[edit]Is it possible to have a diagram of Tenby's wall layout? You don't get an idea about the shape of Tenby from the current article. 86.181.170.77 (talk) 13:27, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
I've looked for a suitable diagram but can't find one anywhere. Do you have one in mind that could be used?Nevermind, I made and added one myself. Leiservampir (talk) 18:44, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Notable people
[edit]Should this article have a section on notable people (eg Kenneth Griffith), as most place articles do? There are probably quite a few who could be included. If no one objects, I'm happy to do it. Tony Holkham (talk) 13:16, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
I have removed a couple of Wikilinks, and there are a number of others that seem superfluous, such as coast, harbour, French Riviera. If no one objects, I'll take these out, too. Tony Holkham (talk) 21:00, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- @ Tony Holkham, We include a line from the Ernle Chatfield, 1st Baron Chatfield article that he "was educated at St Andrew's School in Tenby". Our article makes no other reference to the school. Any ideas? Gareth Griffith-Jones (contribs) (talk) 11:29, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
- Gareth, I cannot find any reference to such a school (it would likely be here if it existed). As he was born in Southsea, is it likely? Tony Holkham (Talk) 11:51, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
- Those were my thoughts too. So we have to put our trust in the reference that probably was copied from the Chatfield article. Other than getting hold of the referral book by another Tony, , not much we can do. Gareth Griffith-Jones (contribs) (talk) 12:14, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

Wally the Walrus
[edit]Hi everyone, this is my first major article edit. I would really like to include the sighting of Wally the Walrus on the Tenby Wiki page, but don't know if what I've done is correct. User SovalValtos didn't seem to like my entry under 'notable people' (lighten up, have some fun!). So I have created its own section, rather than adding it on elsewhere as this didn't seem appropriate. The image is also my own - I haven't nicked one off the web due to copyright, so if anyone has a high-res image please feel free to change it. Rather than just wiping my addition, please help me out and add suggestions! Thanks, Factfinder404 (talk) 17:15, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- The section needs an update. Wally finished up as far south as the Isles of Scilly before returning to the southern Irish coast. Given that he visited so many places, and is still off the Irish coast at the time of writing, I'm not sure his visit to Tenby was actually notable enough for the article. --Ef80 (talk) 13:11, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi Ef80, thanks for the reply. I will update the article when I have some spare time on my hands. I would definitely say Wally's appearance was notable - local shops now stock Wally postcards and other memorabilia, he was there for over a month. Factfinder404 (talk) 20:02, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- According to the news today, he's now in Iceland. --Ef80 (talk) 09:45, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
