Old text
[edit]The article said that the temple was excavated in 1889-86 by E. Penrose. I assume time didn't run backwards in the late 19th century, so I did a search for "Olympieion Penrose" (without the quotes) on Google, and got three hits, all of which agree on 1889-86, presumably having been blindly copied from one another. Does anyone know the correct dates? --Zundark, 2001 Nov 9
This may seem like an obvious question, but while we're at it *where was it*? "Greece" is a big place. Was it in Athens, Corinth, Rhodes, what? -- Paul Drye November 9/01
- Good point. I've added a mention of Athens to the article. But here's another question: is the spelling "Olympeion" correct? It seems at least that "Olympieion" is more common. --Zundark, 2001 Nov 9
dimensions of architraves
[edit]does anyone know the dimensions of the architraves? The distance between the columns will do if that is the best available. I could add the width of a column and get the length. Judging by the dimensions of the drums I'm estimating 20 tons each. Architraves may be more.

Corinthian or Doric order?
[edit]The information about the order of the building is contradictory. At the beginning of the "Classical and Hellenistic periods" it is stated that the original project of Pisistratus followed the Corinthian order. But later, in the third paragraph, we are told that the project of Antiochus IV changed the order from Doric to Corinthian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jordiuly (talk • contribs) 07:59, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
