Bigpond Security and other services

[edit]

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know I'll be updating the article with information about Bigpond Security and possibly some other services offered by Bigpond. I was going to create a seperate article but to be honest I don't think that's necessary. Looking forward to working with you all. Russsell (talk) 23:43, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have removed http://unmetered.bigblog.com.au from external links as I don't see how this really benefits the article. Seems like a user is just trying to get hits over to his site. Style guideline is over at Wikipedia:External links. --Breno talk 11:35, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BigPond rating and use of Westnet

[edit]

I have removed parts of the BigPond rating from choice magazine's survey as it was constantly referring to Westnet, which is not relevant to the subject or article for that matter —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.165.224.66 (talk) 13:33, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BigPond email

[edit]

isnt bigpond email still going, has a lot of users — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.202.220.214 (talk) 23:33, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

As GameArena is BigPond's game service, join this to Other Services section and have a more detailed article than two short ones. --Breno talk 02:03, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal of Mergerging BigPond into Telstra article

[edit]

Since BigPond is still a part of Telstra, I am proposing BigPond is moved to the Telstra article. Once/if BigPond is seperated from Telstra, this would warrant a seperate article. Tomau (talk) 06:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Although BigPond is a subsidiary of Telstra, it's certainally a big enough player in the ISP market to meet notability requirements WP:ORG on its own. Doing a quick google news search shows how many secondary sources this company gets on a regular basis. It's also not as though this article is a stub or a pov fork from Telstra article. While by no means a featured article this does have potential to grow in the long term. Your thoughts? --Breno talk 10:19, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd agree BigPond is large enough to have its seperate article, and on further research I have found that although BigPond is owned by Telstra, they operate as two different "seperate" companies? On this basis the article should stay, and also saves the hassle of relocating it if Telstra and BigPond are structually seperated in the future Tomau (talk) 12:59, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Large Update

[edit]

As you have probably seen from the History page, today I made a large amount of edits to the BigPond page - which has now made it easier and clearer to read as well as more organised. I have also added more information to the page. Ofcourse, the BigPond article is far from being fantastic, so I invite everyone to make constructive edits on the work i've done including adding more references. cheers! Another Update

[edit]

I've redone some parts of the Bigpond page and added the criticism part copied from the main Telstra wikipedia article. I've also tried to remove most of the advertisment-like text and made it clearer to understand. 28 February 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.169.75.3 (talk) 03:18, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

resored section

[edit]

I've restored the section on customer service that was deleted from this page in October 2009 without any explanation (diff). I've fixed a few things up and gotten some links. Since this is a topic that receives a lot of mainstream media coverage i thought it should be in here. Cheers, --Amaher (talk) 12:00, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

merge w Telstra

[edit]

I'm proposing we merge Bigpond with Telstra. Reason: it's a product set of Telstra, not a company - in fact not even a division. Bigpond media has been split from the internet products, so it's a product name like NextG --1.144.222.213 (talk) 12:31, 4 May 2011 (UTC)--1.144.222.213 (talk) 12:31, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Downscaling of the BigPond brand

[edit]

In recent years, Telstra has been advertising their company as simply "Telstra" and removed the Bigpond branding. The website bigpond.com, now redirects to telstra.com.au, although the Bigpond name can still be found under Bigpond Movies, etc.

I think there should be a section mentioning the apparent reduction of the Bigpond brand.NJM2010 (talk) 13:12, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I reckon Bigpond should be merged with telstra under the "product" section 121.211.215.203 (talk) 18:43, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hijack

[edit]

Someone is attempting to hijack the Bigpond page for Telstra Media. Whislt Telstra Media has taken on the content part of bigpond, the core product, broadband, has been folded into Telstra proper. Telstra Media is just a division of Telstra, not an independent company. The majority of this article is about Bigpond, the ISP, and has zero to do with Telstra media's content. Please dont revert again. thanks. RogerM1975 (talk) 20:30, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You've now been reverted by 3 other editors. Bigpond no longer exists, and is covered in the Telstra Media article, so a redirect there is appropriate. Your claims are simply that, claims. You offer nothing to back them up other than "I said so." Stop edit warring. Onel5969 TT me 21:15, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Here https://www.itnews.com.au/news/telstra-hits-another-nail-in-bigpond-coffin-419710 Where is the evidence that Telstra Media has taken on the Bigpond broadband product? Please provide. GIven you want to change the article, you ought to provide the evidence. Also, it's no use just changing the article title and leaving the entire content about Bigpond and broadband when it doesnt relate to Telstra Media at all. Here is what Telstra Media does: http://media.telstra.com.au/home.html It has little to do with the contents of the Bigpond article. Thanks. RogerM1975 (talk) 21:42, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This is ridiculous. Type in Bigpond's website. What comes up. Case closed. Now stop wasting everyone's time. Onel5969 TT me 11:11, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
