Third-party media

[edit]

Since I am editing this article with a COI, I would like to propose an improvement here at the talk page. This culture award is a major event in its field, and the winners are top Nordic artists of international renown. Here are some of the most notable media mentions: Times of India, Reuters, National Broadcasting of Norway, Norway’s largest daily, Norway’s largest tabloid, Norway’s second largest tabloid, Norway's largest business daily, regional daily of central Norway, regional daily of southwest Norway, Bergen daily, western Oslo daily, regional daily of southeast Norway, in addition to a large number of local newspapers. The prize is also mentioned by the Government of Norway (theatre evaluation paper), National Theatre of Norway (one of the winners), the National Opera (a winner), and Magnum Photos (a winner). The first link you provide, to Times of India (link) doesn't point to any news articles that mention the Telenor Culture Award. It's pointing to a list of articles that mention EITHER the words "Telenor" or "culture" or "award", but none seem to have the phrase "Telenor Culture Award". Are you being deceptive on purpose, or is it an accident? The Reuters link discusses the "Telenor International Culture Prize". Is this the same thing as the "Telenor Culture Award"? Has the name changed, or did Reuters mis-report it? Oh, wait -- Reuters says, "Reuters is not responsible for the content in this press release." So, it's a press release. Not a reliable source to establish independent notability. The third link to NRK.no seems to be about a prize-winner, but why at the bottom of the article does it say "(NRK / Telenor)"? That seems to be another sign that Telenor helped NRK to write that article, similar to "buying" media through PR. So many of the other links are to Norwegian sources, maybe this article is notable for people who speak Norwegian, but isn't odd (and a bit pathetic) how there doesn't seem to be a single English-language news source that has ever covered this award? That suggests it is a regionally notable thing, but not universally notable. - 2001:558:1400:10:D0CF:45B0:1484:CEA9 (talk) 21:37, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi and thanks for seeing this. The Times of India had a link to a story about the Culture Award when I checked it, but not this time. It's odd, maybe I got the URL wrong. The Reuters link, I am sorry but I did not see like you did, that this was a press release and not a story. Thanks for observing that. The Norwegian media are all highly reliable, and independent. Including the NRK - I think no one "buys" the state broadcaster of Norway, just as you don't "buy" the BBC. The article is written and signed by a journalist of the NRK. They work along extremely high ethical standards. I realize that not everyone can read norwegian, but I understand that local-language sources will still be valid. These are all the largest media you can get in the country where this award is issued. In addition, the sites of the Government, national Opera, and the national Theatre. My issue here is not to take part in the deletion debate, but to add third-party sources and let others decide if they are reliable. The sad thing that happened here, is that no one even looked at the Talk page before deleting the article. Whether or not it should be deleted, is not a concern I have much feelings for, and totally up to other users to decide. Bjoertvedt (talk) 22:25, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the Times of India link, I must have mixed that up with an URL from the Economic Times of India, with the story here. I am sorry for having mixed up the two newspapers. One could also add The News of Pakistan. BR, Bjoertvedt (talk) 23:21, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As a correction, the revised third-party media and other mention the substance of this article, include:
