Serbo-Croatian or Albanian names ?

The use of Serbo-Croatian-language place-names instead of Albanian-language ones:

For a number of reasons, prominent among which is the existance of the many incarnations of Yugoslavia, the English language has commonly used the Serbo-Croatian forms, and it continues to do so to this day, seven years after the Kosovo War, despite the fact that now the Albanian-language forms are also being used to a lesser degree.

The English-language Wikipedia uses the names our English-speaking readers are most familiar with: the ones they would find in most English-language publications, maps, press coverage, etc... (see Wikipedia's naming conventions policy & its associated guidelines on using English and geographic names). In the case of Kosovo, these forms happen to be the Serbo-Croatian ones.

This usage may change in the future, and the current Serbo-Croatian forms may be dropped, the Albanian ones adopted, or entirely new ones coined. If/when that happens, the English-language Wikipedia should reflect this shift. But not before: we aim to passively reflect current English usage, not to actively promote the adoption of the Albanian-language forms. - Best regards, Ev 20:18, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

The historical context of Teki Dervishi's birth-place in 1943:

I don’t care discussing with people like you (because you have repetatly changed the article about this Albanian poet in a way that I am strongly convinced he would find offensive. And I too find it offensive. That you came back so fast and so often to revert the article to “restore” Serbia, makes this a very personal issue for you. I refuse to belive that you can be obssessed with “common usage” (later about that).
Kosova is NOT a Serbian province, and very soon it will not be adminstered by UNMIK (and these are informations completely unecessary, in an article about a poet). All that matters is that he writes in Albanian, hence he is an Albanian poet, who happens to occupy and rule his beloved homeland, that he has worked all his life to see free, is irrelevant. Hence Axis powers, Serbia, Unmik, EU are all provisory occuping forces that (not only because I want them to) disappear.
That the Anglo – Saxon world has addopted Serbian usage of geographical places inhabited by Albanians, does not make this usage neutral. By no means. It only tells something about power relations. Power relations that are about to change, and many, including you are very sorry about that.
To return to this particular poet (since I am sure that you and I are not going to resolve the Serbo – Albanian conflict). I don’t edit articles about Serb poets, and I don’t think you should be editing an article about an Albanian poet, whom I am very sure you have never read. I am even giving you a chance to win, I have explicitly demanded that this aricle be removed from the English wikipendia, if it has to be edited by Serbs or serbophilles. Whether the stating of encyclopedic facts in a neutral tone or following the current common English usage offends Teki Dervishi's or your personal sensibilities is ultimately irrelevant. If you disagree with any of our current policies, you can propose changes to it in the appropiate talk page.

If your emotions & sensibilities prevent you from following our current policies & guidelines, then I would advise you to refrain from editing such topics as this one. — Of course, whenever you care discussing the issue with other users, feel free to do so in this talk page. - Best regards, Ev 22:03, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

1. You are NOT stating "encyclopiic facts"
2. You are stating your (very biased)beleifs
3. You are stating them in a place where they are irrelevant, and only as a provocation
4. My "emotions and sensibilities" don't give ..... about your policies
5. I do though feel deeply insulted that a person like you should write Teki Dervishi's name (in any contexts)
6. Serbian name
