Editing needed

It looks like Martin Miller is having a Teddy Night to signify the dismal feelings here:

"His first solo album was self titled Teddy Pendergrass (1977), followed by Life Is a Song Worth Singing (1978), Live Coast to Coast and Teddy (1979), 1980's TP and the final Philadelphia International Records album It's Time For Love (1981). In August 1982, PIR also released "This One's For You" while TP was recovering. Even in 1983 the album "Heaven Only Knows" was released. This was his last album containing his pre-accident recordings. Ten years after the accident, he recorded a version of "One Shining Moment," the theme for March Madness Basketball on CBS."

Accident

[edit]

There is no mention of the accident until it is referenced in the past tense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.63.82.207 (talk) 04:35, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is said that the brakes failed on his Rolls Royce, but no source is provided for that. Apparently he sued the car maker and received an out-of-court settlement, but companies often come to such settlements without admitting fault to avoid larger jury verdicts. I'm willing to bet that Rolls Royce disputed the claim of brake failure. This needs to be treated as an allegation, not a fact. Nicmart (talk) 15:42, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What is the significance of Tenika Watson's sexuality? Was it a defining aspect of her night club performances? If not, please consider why her race is not mentioned. I suggest that her sexuality not be mentioned for the same reasons her race is not mentioned. Her sexuality (unless was a integral part of her performances) does not add anything to the story. Imagine some white celebrity has an accident, and has a black passenger in the car. If his passenger is reported as a "black person", it would be discrimination, because the race would not be mentioned if the passenger were white. Equally, it is discrimination to mention the sexuality of Tenika, if it would not have been mentioned had she been hetrosexual. Jesselong (talk) 13:14, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace

[edit]

Teddy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania not Kingstree, South Carolina. Check his biography Truly Blessed. He was born at Jefferson Hospital. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.116.123.28 (talk) 04:49, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Teddy Pendergrass was born in Kingstree, South Carolina as stated by Mrs. Ida Pendergrass and several other sources. 173.95.94.253 (talk) 20:10, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Teddy's National Anthem in wheelchair

[edit]

Teddy Pendergast sang our National Anthem from his wheelchair on stage, a capella, if my memory serves me correctly. I saw it on TV long ago and would like to see & hear it again, but don't know any details for a successful search. I have never heard the Anthem out done by anyone, anywhere since!!! Please help with finding this !!! 72.82.234.84 (talk) 02:46, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

per WP:LEAD this article fails to summarize the contents of the article, serving only to focus on his injury and his org. I think his music is actually why he is important more so than the car accident and one or two concerts related to it. What hits did he do? What Awards did he win? --169.0.4.125 (talk) 08:15, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Accident

[edit]

I'm not sure of the WP protocol for this, but is there a reason his accident is listed under Solo Career and not Personal Life? I knew it wouldn't have been omitted from here, but didn't realise I'd have to read the whole article to find it. MarpoHarks (talk) 14:55, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Car Crash?

[edit]

To say that he was "involved" in a car crash goes well beyond British levels of understatement. It was a single car crash and he was driving. I love Teddy but let's be real108.48.123.240 (talk) 15:49, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
