Final Clean-Up

[edit]

I'd like to reach an agreement on what is required to finalize this page. Barnstar, you reversed my attempts at a final clean-up, and I'd like to better understand your reasoning. The "mass deletion of items that could be sourced" was because they have not been sourced, after 20 years. Thus, it is not likely that they will ever be sourced and thus amount to a violation of multiple Wikipedia policies.

You called my attempt at a better header "editorializing" - rather, it is a supportable attempt to put Team OS/2 in its historical context as an important early development in using online communications to organize like-minded enthusiasts into supporting a cause they believe in. It was probably the first known example of a cause going viral online, and deserves to be noted historically as such, although it might be difficult to verify that fact, which is implied by the publication of Whittle's book which included his early experiences as IBM's first online rep.

Please propose alternatives to the current header, which not only fails to communicate the historical importance of Team OS/2, but is currently inaccurate and more editorial than my proposed alterations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.202.246.186 (talk) 16:37, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The name still exists - for clubs of enthusiasts

[edit]

I just wanted to give notice that the name "Team OS/2" still exists - for clubs of enthusiasts. I know the name from German clubs like TeamOS/2 Deutschland e.V. ... Alrik Fassbauer (talk) 14:17, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Big Budget Indy 500 Event?

[edit]

May 24, 1992 - Indianapolis 500! Full weekend party and suite from IBM OS/2 Ambassador program. We got to go around with the pro drivers on the track days before the race in the pace cars, got to see the computers for race timing, we got Indiana State Police escort from our luxury hotel to the race on Race Day! We had a (fake money) casino night at the hotel with one of the racers and 5 or 6 casino games + dealers, great grub. I imagine this was a big spend per person. - Stephen A Gutknecht, OS/2 Gold Ambassador
