Latest onn TCS....TCS and another Tata Group Company called Tata Infotech (TIL) have merged. More than 3000 Tata Infotech employees are now on TCS mercy.

TCS has stopped their Super-annuation, a retirement benefit in India payroll. But, they are not willing to give back the hugh sum accumulated in this fund by the employees of Tata Infotech overs the years of their service.

This sum is deducted from the employees paycheck every month. Now that there is no provision for Super-annuation in TCS pay structure, it should give the erstwhile Tata Infotech employees their accumulated Super-annuation funds back.

But TCS is intensionally delaying this pay-out and in the name of Tata Trust rules, it is denying that payment. The Tata Trust is the one who was collecting and investing the superannuation funds for both, TCS and Tata Infotech.

But when TCS merged with Tata Infotech, TCS recovered all the dues outstanding form the employees, but said that the employee will have to for-go all the money that was due on Tata Infotech. This is cruel and in-just to long serving employees.

When repeatedly asked about the Super-annuation funds, the TCS management has declined to answer the queries and have never came out with an explanation in the last 1 year of merger.

This is another example of TCS ding illegal employee practices. TCS is converting the H1-B visa of erstwhile Tata INfotech Employees to L1-B visa in illegal manner. They are forcing the employees to submit petition under the name of Specialized Knowledge class for L1-B. When the employee is not using the TCS technology and is working on the client-location on H1-B, its illegal to use this type of class to get L1-B.

TCS does this for - 1. They do not have to follow Prevailing Wage Rate, a requirement for H1-B. 2. L1-B employee cannot shift job in the US freely, like the H1-B employee can do. 3. TCS can then pay less than 50% of the prevailing market rate to the employee and still the employee cannot do anythjing as they are liable for the status change.

I would ask Mr. TCS defender to answer these queries at the earliest....if not, then he/she should go back to his sponsers with these cases and seek an answer. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The current article seems to be opinionated and does not provide neutral facts. Probably needs clean up. evolve 19:21, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)

  • Could you please be a little more specific? Which word/phrase/sentence/paragraph seems opionated and non-neutral to you? - varunrebel 09:56, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  • I agree. The whole thing seems a bit press-releasish to me. I'd help improve it, but I've never heard of the company. Maybe some info on what their "pioneering" concepts actually were would be useful, leaving the reader to make up their own mind if they were truly remarkable or not? - Drw25
    • Thats cool. In fact it does seem a bit press-releasish as u have so aptly put it. For starters you can check out TCS's website http://www.tcs.com. TCS has pioneered a number of concepts and practices (will give references later bcoz right now I am bit busy) but is is most popular for developing and proving the practice of outsourcing+offshoring. It is the largest IT Consultancy company in India (and also probably in Asia but I am not sure about this). It went public in July 2004 and has been relatively low profile till now, maybe thats y u have not heard about it. Will defn point u to more useful stuff later. For now check out http://www.hoovers.com/tata-consultancy/--ID__103756--/free-co-factsheet.xhtml . The info here is sketchy and outdated but it is a start - varunrebel 04:41, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
  • The current article seems to be a bunch of press releases now. Consistency check and removal of duplicate phrases will be needed. evolve 02:11, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Please give your suggestions and feed back, I would like to know , whether to giving more external references in this regard would help the article, sorry for the not so wiki style.I will restructure the contents later.Stegunner 09:48, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • It reads like it is being written by the marketing department. How does "pioneered the adoption of flexible global business practices that today enable companies to operate more efficiently and produce more value" actually mean anything in the context of an encyclopedia?, however, I did like "All is not creamy curd, there is cockroach too; " 2 Apr 2005
  • Borrowed this idea (strong ressemblence between jack welch's model of business) .GE was the first company to emphasise on a attitude which encompassed the strenghts of large business with agility of a small business .TCS pioneered some thing called "Offshore business model" ,which actually involves getting the development and design done in India ,(saves a lot of cost for client as there is difference in Rupee/Dollar and developers here are paid in Rupees ,also low cost of living when seen in Dollars),it was later mimiced by others .Getting work done offshore, helps company to choose from a vast pool of talent available ,the skillset differs as the requirement differs ,sending developers to client end removes this flexibility (visa regulations and other stuff). For christ-sake iam not into marketing :-) ,i want to do my MBA ,but not in marketing ,not my choice of work, back to the point ,should i add this to article ? it is not a patented idea as such, don't know the name of the guy who cameup with this, but just know that this was the first company to do so. (GE moving to japan /Asia to cut-down manufacturing costs was a precursor ,but in software TCS was the first)
    • On note this article may appear as if it were a collection of press releases or patronized by the author, the answer to such: "facts are more interesting than fiction" , It is against the ethics of wikipedia to condone or patronize a product/organization/group/culture , the article contains information of which i have first hand knowledge.

The intent of putting up this on wiki is to shed light of the lesser known facets of a organization with a huge potential, which most of the Indians consider as another TATA company ( if you are not Indian ,you would be surprised by the heavy-weight tag associated with the name of TATA).TCS is more than that ,if someone wants to know what patronizing means they should query for info. in Indian media ,as always media plays the puppy dog of power houses ,using flowery vocabulary to project their heros (and I should add, equally cantankerous in ruining reputations).

I have not given any data regards to company culture, work ethics, business practices, their corporate social responsibility practices (CSR). Why should I do that? That would mean some thing close to tail wagging. If someone wants to know all about that and more, they are at the wrong place. Wiki is not a billboard. Stegunner 10:53, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • Why is there a large section on the CEO in this article? This reads like its a direct copy from a press release especially the portions talking about what the CEO "believes". This just doesn't seem like NPOV to me. Also a couple of years ago there was an article on CIO magazine referring to outsourcing that mentions Tata's alleged hiring practices toward Americans: http://cio.com/archive/090103/people_sidebar_1.html I just want to ask the question, should some of this also be in this article. 15:05, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hopefully it is more balanced now

Until the pet employees of this vile organisation vandalise the article again.

having a discussion on the gruntled misquotes under Anti-Employee Policies

This section is written by an insider) MR. INSIDER SHOULD EITHER VOICE HIS CONCERNS TO THE MANAGEMENT AND IMPROVE THE COMPANY, OR HAVE GUTS ENOUGH TO LEAVE IT.

Regardless of what award it is conferred, WHY REGARDLESS??

TCS has pioneered the Indian IT sweatshops WHY SWEATSHOPS?? TCS HAS PIONEERED IT IN INDIA, IF YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE LONG WORKING HOURS INSIDE AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM WITH NO CABIN CULTURE, YOU SHOULD GET YOUR TIMELINES RIGHT. ASK THE MANAGERS TO PLAN THE PROJECT TIMES AS PER YOUR CAPABILITIES.

phenomenon and they have taken the whole idea to a level of art form. It is reputed to be a very bad paymaster in spite of making massive profits.

THATS BECAUSE WE COMPARE OURSELVES WITH THE GIANTS LIKE IBM. COMPARE THE PAY WITH THEIR INDIAN EQUIVALENTS, AND THE REPUTATION WILL EARN ACCOLADES.

TCS employees are without a shadow of doubt the most unhappy and disloyal among major IT companies in India. BLUNDER!! TCS HAS THE MINIMUM ATTRITION RATE.

TCS still has the infamous 'bond'- a completely illegal practice CONSULT THE LAWYERS BEFORE MISQUOTING. THE SERVICE AGREEMENT IS PERFECTLY WITHIN INDIAN LAWS. MOREOVER, THERE HAVE BEEN CASES WHERE THE COURTS HAVE RULED IN FAVOUR OF THE COMPANIES.

whereby new entrants are forced to sign a declaration NO, THEY HAVE ALL THE DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS TO NOT JOIN THE COMPANY.

that they would not leave the company for at least three years, READ THE AGREEMENT AGAIN MR. INSIDER. IT'S NOT THREE YEARS.

and pay the company a 'compensation' if they do. The 'bond' has a guarantor (usually the employee's parents or a close relative), who is liable to pay up should the employee quit within the 'bond period' and, as TCS puts it, 'abscond'. TELL ME WHERE TCS HAS USED 'ABSCOND' AS THE WORD.

Of course the company reserves the right to kick the employee out whenever it sees fit, and it will not pay a penny in compensation. EVEN A BIGGER BLUNDER. TCS HAS TO GIVE A WELL-IN-ADVANCE NOTICE TO THE EMPLOYEE AND PROVE THAT HE REALLY NEEDS TO BE KICKED OFF. FYI, TCS IS THE ONLY COMPANY, WHO HAS NOT FIRED A SINGLE EMPLOYEE EVEN DURING THE GREAT RECESSION PERIOD. ONE OF THE PRIMARY REASONS OF JOINING TCS HAS BEEN THE 'JOB SECURITY'.

For decades the mainstream media, IT bigwigs including the NASSCOM and the government have turned a blind eye to this blatant exploitation of young graduates desperate for a job,

I AGREE THAT MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAS TURNED A BLIND EYE TOWARDS TCS, BUT THAT IS FOR THE TATA'S 'DON'T SHOW-OFF' POLICY. TATA GROUP IS THE LARGEST PHILANTHROPIC CONGLOMERATE IN INDIA AND DESRVES A LOT MORE MEDIA ATTENTION THAN IT DOES.

which just goes on to prove that if you are big enough, you can get away with murder. NO, IF YOU ARE BIG ENOUGH YOU BECOME MORE GENEROUS. "MORE THE FRUITS ON THE TREE, MORE BENT IT WILL BE."

As a more recent twist to this malpactice, TCS now locks away the original exam certificates and marksheets of the new recruits throughout the 'bond' period (three years), to make doubly sure that the recruits just cannot avoid the bond. MR. INSIDER, TELL ME ONE EMPLOYEE WITHIN TCS, WHOSE CERTIFICATES ARE LOCKED WITH TCS. IMMEDIATELY BEFORE WRITING THIS LINE, I CALLED UP TWO EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE JOINED TCS LAST MONTH, AND THEY BOTH HAVE CONFIRMED, THAT THERE CERTIFICTAES ARE VERY MUCH WITH THEM ONLY. AND TCS IS NOT WITHIN ITS REACH, UNLESS OR UNTIL THEY KEEP THEIR CERTIFICATES IN THEIR OFFICE-DRAWERS.

If someone is stupid enough to quit within three years without paying the compensation money, TCS keeps all their original papers, making their life extremely difficult (in addition to making the life of the guarantor equally difficult). I HAVE TO JUST LAUGH THIS POINT AWAY. IN FACT, TCS HAS BEEN GENEROUS ENOUGH BY NOT ACCEPTING THE COMPENSATION MONEY, IF THE EMPLOYEE IS LEAVING FOR A REASON.

It is a nightmare in India to try and obtain duplicate documents from educational institutions, particularly for someone who is in full time job, and TCS knows it. This illegal activity is now replicated by several other companies, and even some educational institutions like the Manipal Institute of Technology. RE-CONFIRMING THAT NO SUCH CERTIFICATE RETAINING POLICY EXISTS IN TCS. PEOPLE SHOULD GET THE FACTS RIGHT BEFORE EXPRESSING THEIR VIEWS AT SUCH A RESPECTABLE PLACE.

TCS (now followed by other Indian IT companies) have firmly established the sweatshop and slave labour culture in Indian IT. I DON'T CONSIDER WORKING IN SUCH FACILITATED AND FUN FILLED ENVIRONMENT AS EITHER A SWEATSHOP OR A LABOUR CULTURE.

It is expected of an IT professional in India to work 12 hours a day, often without a break in the weekends. They are never paid overtime. The company of course invoices its overseas customers the overtime hours whenever there is such a provision in the contract, but conveniently fails to pass on even a fraction of that money to the employees. ALL THE PROFESSIONALS, BE IT IN ANY INDUSTRY, MAY HAVE TO WORK OVERTIME, IF THE PLANNING OF THE TIME-ESTIMATES HAVE GONE WRONG SOMEWHERE. ONE SHOULD RAISE THE CONCERNS TO THE MANAGEMENT IF THIS IS HAPPENING OFTEN. I KNOW OF INCIDENTS WHERE TCS UPPER MANAGEMENT HAD TO INTERRUPT AND ASK THE PLs AND GLs TO NOT OVERBURDEN THE TEAM MEMBERS. REGARDING THE PASSING OF PROFITS TO THE GRASS ROOTS, TCS ALSO FACES THE BURDEN IF THE PLANNING HAS GONE WRONG FROM THEIR SIDE. TCS DOESN'T CHARGES FROM THE CLIENTS FOR THE OVERTIME DONE BY THE TEAM MEMBERS. TCS' SHARE PRICES AND REPUTATION IN THE MARKET TELL THAT, PROFIT IS ALSO SHARED WITH THE SHARE-HOLDERS. I DON'T THINK ANY COMPANY CAN REACH AND STAY FOR LONG AS THE 4TH LARGEST INDIAN COMPANY IN MARKET CAP. AND THE LARGEST IN IT, WITH SUCH ANTI-EMPLOYEE POLICIES.

Employees are treated as machines or numbers rather than individual human beings. VICE-VERSA...TCS IS AMONG THE FEW IT COMPANIES WHERE EMPLOYEES ARE REALLY TREATED AS HUMAN BEINGS. Employees have very few holidays every year and taking holidays is frowned upon. TELL ME ANY IT COMPANY WORLDWIDE, OFFERING MORE HOLIDAYS THAN TCS!!

Workers are not supposed to mention family commitments. SURPRIZED! IN MOST OF THE TCS CELEBRATIONS FAMILY MEMBERS ARE ALSO INVITED. TCS PAYS FOR THE MEDICALS, ON-SITE TRIPS, ETC. FOR THE FAMILY MEMBERS. TCS' HR DISPLAYS SILLY-LOOKING ART MADE BY YOUR CHILD AT THE CANTEEN NOTICE BOARD. ABOVE ALL, TCS IS THE ONLY COMPANY IN THE WORLD WHERE THE DEPENDENCIES OF THE MARRIED WOMAN ARE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERED SERIOUSLY. COMPARE THE NUMBER OF FEMALES, ESP. THE MARRIED ONES IN TCS, AND YOU'LL GET AN IDEA.

All this has created the strange practice of clocking hours rather than actually doing anything worthwhile. Many people loiter around the coffee machines for hours, take an infinite number of smoking breaks and two hour lunch breaks and then stay back at the office late until 9pm in the evening, because that creates the impression of working hard. At year-end appraisals, 'I work very hard' is the most used phrase, rather than 'I work very smart'.

THANKS GOD YOU USED "I" OVER HERE. THIS PARA OF YOURS, ITSELF ANSWERS MANY OF YOUR POINTS. I AM SURPRIZED, EVEN AFTER ENJOYING SO MUCH, U CALL IT A SWEATSHOP AND LABOUR CULTURE. I BELIEVE, IF ALL THESE PEOPLE START DOING ANYTHING WORTHWHILE, STOP LOITERING AROUND THE COFFE MACHINE FOR HOURS, CUT ON THEIR SMOKING BREAKS, HAVE A REASONABLE LUNCH BREAK, AND THEN WORK SMARTLY, THEY ARE BOUND TO RECEIVE KUDOS.

All Indian IT companies work with a Chinese Army principle, i.e., they attempt to solve all problems by throwing hundreds of people at it. DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE CHINESE ARMY, AND WHAT'S WRONG IN THEIR POLICY. BUT I'VE NEVER SEEN MORE PEOPLE THAN ARE NEEDED IN A PROJECT. PLUS, IF IT SO, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A WIN-WIN SITUATION. MORE EMPLOYMENT IN THE COUNTRY, MORE PROFIT FOR THE COMPANY, QUICKER DELIVERY TO THE CLIENT. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR IN A COUNTRY OF A BILLION PEOPLE?

In India, companies have no shortage of people. IS IT?? I'VE SEEN ALL COMPANIES' HR HUNTING THE RIGHT TALENT.

Employee welfare, retention policy and staff loyalty are unknown concepts in Indian IT simply because the companies do not really care if their employees leave the organisation or not.

THEY DO CARE FOR THE DESERVING ONES. NOT SURE ABOUT THE AROUND COFFE-MACHINE LOITERERS. EVEN THEN LET ME RESTATE THE FACT THAT TCS HAS LOWEST ATTRITION RATE AND PROVIDES THE BEST JOB SECURITY.

For each disgruntled employee, there are a several hundred graduates queuing outside for a job.

TCS has to take most of the blame for the unhealthy working environment that is prevalent in Indian IT companies.

SORRY...IT DOESN'T HAS TO TAKE THE BLAME FOR THE POLICIES IN OTHER COMPANIES.

TCS and other IT companies actively dodge taxes in overseas locations. For example TCS employees do not pay national insurance contributions in the UK, a punishable offence. I SHOULD NOT COMMENT ON THIS AS I DON'T HAVE MUCH KNOWLEDGE ABOUT UK SPECIFIC DETAILS. BUT I DON'T THINK A COMPANY AS BIG AS TCS CAN SURVIVE THERE BY VIOLATING THE NATIONAL LAWS. EUROPE IS THE LARGEST SERVED REGION BY TCS. I ENCOURAGE U TO TAKE THIS UP WITH PADDY.

The standard wage of a TCS employee when in the UK is about £15,000, although their work permits state much higher wages, another illegal practice. TALK TO PADDY, AND GET IT CORRECTED ASAP, IF ANY SUCH DIFFERENCE IS THERE.

In overseas locations as well, the expectation is for the professional to work unrealistically long hours day in and day out (in complete violation of local labour laws). WHO EXPECTS THIS? IF U MEAN THE CLIENT, THEN IT'S NOT TCS' MISTAKE. IF IT'S THE TCS MANAGERS, THEN TELL THEM THAT YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR WORK WITHIN THE ALLOTED TIME, AND THEY NEED TO COME UP A WITH A GOOD REASON TO MAKE YOU STAY THERE.

If the professionals have a problem, the company is only too happy to fire them and find some other desperate young graduates. YET AGAIN. TCS HAS THE LEAST NUMBER OF HIRE-N-FIRE INCIDENTS.

It may seem unbelievable but once an employee is sent overseas on a long-term assignment (one year or longer), s/he is not allowed to visit India before a year has elapsed. WELL, I CAME BACK JUST IN 3 MONTHS

Even then the employee gets only about two weeks' leave. ONLY???

This, incidentally, is in gross violation of all western employment laws. WHAT IS THE NEED OF IMITATING WESTERN LAWS IN INDIA?

It is well known that TCS as well as all Indian IT companies break visa regulations of western nations. It is extremely common to send an employee overseas on a short term business visa to do hands-on technical work e.g., production implementation or a short period of application support. The terms of a business visa prohibit hands-on technical work, because such a visa is only to be used for a short period of consuntancy or setting up new business etc. It is also very common to send an employee to one overseas company with a work permit that is valid for work with a completely different company. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE GOLDEN CHANCE TO SUE ANY COMPANY WHO DOES THIS MALPRACTICE....ONE CAN GET RICH EASILY BY DOING SO.

There are no employees' unions for Indian IT professionals, although the employers are extremely united and even though they are competitors, they work in cohorts. When one illegal or anti-employee practice is pioneered by one company, it is quickly copied by the rest. WELL, INDIA HAS YET UNPARALLED LAWS FOR THE EMPLOYEES. MOREOVER, WE ARE BLESSED WITH THE SERVICES' SECTOR FACILITIES. WE ARE MORE PRIVILEGED THAN MANY OF OUR COUNTERPARTS.

TCS has no culture of paying redundancy packages to its employees either. Instead, they use another very clever tactic (again, now copied by other Indian companies). The unfortunate employee is taken aside and told either to resign within three weeks if they wish to get a good letter of reference from TCS, or be sacked on performance/disciplinary grounds. NOT AGAIN PLEASE. THIS HAS ABSOLUTELY NO RELATION WITH THE FACT.

In a country like India where supply of workers far outstrips the demand, this works like magic. There is no such thing in India called an employment tribunal, so no one ever hears about these incidents until it happens to you or someone you know. I SUPPOSE U CAN RAISE VOICES IN THE COURT.

From 2000 onwards TCS has fired a number of women employees as soon as they came back from maternity leave, citing past performance issues. Pregnant employees usually are very careful not to disclose their pregnancy until it is unavoidable, because pregnancy is frowned upon and pregnant women are discriminated against (in terms of work allocation). RUBBISH. TCS GIVES EXTRA PRIVILEGES ON SUCH CONDITIONS. MOREOVER, IF YOU HAVE READ THE B4U CAREFULLY, THERE EXISTS A POLICY FOR MALE EMPLOYEES TOO.

TCS is the only Indian company with the dubious distinction of having an ex-employees' group set up to campaign against it. The group was set up in 1996 and was called The Liberation Tigers Against TCS. The group was responsible for some high profile chain-email campaign against TCS (in particular after a TCS employee committed suicide in the US) but was disbanded in 2000 as a result of threats of lawsuits from TCS.

I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANY SUCH POPULAR GROUP. A GOOGLE ON THE AFORESAID "The Liberation Tigers Against TCS" RETURNED ME NO RESULTS, EXCEPT THIS VERY PAGE.

All major Indian companies (including TCS) have obtained various CMMI certification, usually employing fradulent means, including blatantly falsifying and manufacturing quality evidence and rigging list of interviewees.

CMMI AUDITORS WORK ON A GLOBAL BASIS AND THE QUALITY STANDARDS HAVE TO BE MAINTAINED EVERY YEAR. IT'S NOT A ONE-TIME JOB. SO EVEN IF YOUR ALLEGATION HAD BEEN TRUE, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BIG HEADACHE FOR TCS TO MAINTAIN THE CERTIFICATE. TCS HAS LOT MANY MORE CERTIFICATES TO BE PROUD OF. ALSO, IF THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN ANY FOUL PLAY INVOLVED, WHY IS IT THAT THE COURT, THE GOVERNMENT, THE MEDIA, THE ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED, ARE NOT AWARE OF IT, AND YOU KNOW IT??

Once obtained, this CMMI certification is then bandied about as a great success story and a hallmark of quality, in particular in front of gullible overseas customers while bidding for a contract IT IS A MATTER TO BE PROUD OF. WE DO GET JOBS BASED ON THE OUR QUALIFICATIONS.

Seems that u r a manager at TCS

you suggest that talk to you manager? Are you an employee? can u ask ur manager about time line. Can you leave before he/she leaves even if your work is complete?

Practically speaking NO way ....

I totally agree with Mr. Insider (good writting style too) ... This is an organization boasting of being global 10 by 2010 .. I will just ask are they doing it based on head count (hahahah). with lack of support staff and irresponsible behaviour or seniors do you think any company can become G-10 .. all crap ...

Just walk to any employee who joined this organization or someone quit it >> you can easily make out the level of satisfacion. Person below has just raised his/her brows on working hours ... what are your views on the BONDS OF SLAVERY?

Down with Imperialism.....

ignorance is bliss

Dear ankushag, why talk about things you don't know about? You haven't heard about the liberation tigers, obviously you haven't been around for too long. You don't know about violation of visa regulations, nor about PLs and GLs trying to save their back by forcing programmers to work crazy hours, you do not know about the work permit misuse, you think every employee on a long term foreign assignment is allowed to fly back within three months (were you sent home by the client, by the way?)...and the list goes on.

you haven't got a clue my friend. No wonder you wag your tail to whenever your master whistles.

I was in SEEPZ when TCS first got CMM level 5 in 2000. I saw how they create quality data by hand, data that was never collected through a process, just created to pass CMM. I was asked to create defects report myself. Since then it has been the same every year.

I was in live production support at client sites. Do you want to know how much TCS charges the client per hour on call, and how much they paid me per actual callout?

You think just two weeks' holiday over a full year of foreign placement is good enough? You are already a machine.

you think TCS doesn't lock away original marksheets? and you want people's names? why? so you can locate them and scr*w them?

You think stating higher salary in work permit is going on just because 'paddy' didn't know about this? stop kidding yourself. why don't you go and ask your paddy and see what happens.

you think tcs shouldn't obey foergn labour laws when they send employees in a foreign country? will you be happy if foreign companies stop following indian laws when they are in india?

do you know that when working in offshore, we don't get any holidays? we don't get indian holidays because 'the clients are working, so we have to work' and we don't get clients' holidays because 'this is not an indian holiday, so why do you want a holiday?'

Who is this guy konstable?

Why is he deleting the anti employee policy section again and again? Bet he is bribed by TCS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.45.225.96 (talkcontribs)

Konstable is obviously me. Your second sentence is not civil enough to warrant a response from me. As to your first question - I have already given my reasons for removing the anti-employee policy in the edit summary. But I will describe them again for your sake. The statements inserted do not fit with Wikipedia's policies of Verifiability (ie no reliable sources are cited) and Neutral Point of View; and since this statement acts as an accusation these are essential. These comments are also most likely Original Research on behalf of the user who keeps putting them in - please note that original research is against Wikipedia policy. If you want to insert something about their employee relations, please cite reliable sources and present it in a more neutral manner.--Konstable 07:09, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

The section is indeed not suitable for Wikipedia based on the policies listed above. Also note that Wikipedia is not a soapbox to display your discontent with the company's practices. Wikipedia is based on verifiability, and as such it would be best if such information was provided by an external source (which could be properly cited). Thanks. Reinserting original research

It is unfortunate that a bunch of anon users feel the need to re-insert unverified original research attacks on the company. I am not against you saying anything bad about the company, I don't know a single thing about it, but if you need to make claims they cannot be original reserach, they have to be neutral and they have to be verified - these are Wikipedia's official policies. If you feel that my comments here are unjustified in terms of Wikipedia's policy, please feel free to discuss it on this talk page, or contact me on my talk page if you need to.

However, if you keep re-inserting this material I will have to report those involved as vandals to try to force an end to this, and blocks may have to be made. I don't want to do this because at least some of the anon editors behind this have made some useful contributions in other articles, and I assume these statements on this page are inserted through personal anger at the company and lack of understanding of Wikipedia's policies rather than vandalism. But if you continue without even any attempt on discussion, this may have to be done.--Konstable 02:46, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Few short notes

Well, i am a TCS employee(not manager but engineer) and have friends who work in all the so called BIG SHOT firms, but the thing everytime comes to my mind is that, whosoever is working (regardless of where he works) is unhappy, cause is the human tendency which always makes the grass looks green on the other side. So what does this implies, everyone should just keep cursing his company. I followed up all the articles present in the discussions( and archives as well), i find few guys are just fuming over TCS. And one more thing when i joined, my certificates were taken just for the purpose of verification and were returned to me an hour after the verification was completed. And friends one more thing i would like to say, the onsite chances which TCS gives to its employees are considered the best among all the IT circles Prithvi raj 07:19, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Large additions to the article

A lot of text has been added to the article on April 10, 2007 from the IP address 59.163.25.48. This IP address seems to be from IIT Bombay. The text looks pretty technical and has been added in about 30 minutes. There is a possibility that it could be copied/pasted from a term paper or a research paper or an article. I will revert to an older version and flag it for potentially copyrighted material. ɤіɡʍаɦɤʘʟʟ 23:49, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Asia's Largest Software Firm

This is a claim made by the company based on the assumption that IT Services = India, and not anywhere else. If you combine IBM presence in India, China, Singapore, Japan etc. it is far larger than any Indian IT Services company. Therefore it does not hold valid and is being deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.64.40.50 (talk) 09:07, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Persistent addition of a low quality image by BNJ Nilam

The user in question has been persistently reverting edits to his preferred version of the page which includes this image in particular File:TCS Gitanjali Park Kolkata.jpg. I had reverted the addition of the image initially on the grounds of said image being much lower in quality than the previously used image. The user disagrees and started edit warring. I have limited myself to 3 reverts as per the policy and have made attempts to resolve the issue on the user's talk page to no avail. This is my final attempt at reaching a resolution. @BNJ Nilam:, I expect your reply at the earliest. Prolix 💬 11:14, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

Promotional Tone + Close Connection to source

There are a number of passagse that seem written like an advertisement, including the inclusion in the lede (!) of the fact that TATA was on an industry-sponsored "most innovative companies" list. DenverCoder9 (talk) 23:10, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

I have repeatedly removed non-notable promotional material, like the mention in the lede (!) that TATA was on an industry-sponsored "most innovative company". Editors continue to re-add without talk page discussion.

You must discuss before adding promotional material. DenverCoder9 (talk) 04:38, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Disruptive edits

?????????????????????????? @DenverCoder9 please stop your regular disruptive edits ??????????? There is no promotional ???? material in the article, it is factual information, Facts are not advertisements ????, if by revenue it is top or some other metric it is top then we cant change those facts. If you have problem with terminology, then change that particular word, stop reverting large chunk of material again and again and again and again and again waste others time on talk page???

Lists like "World's Most Innovative Companies" are created specifically to promote companies. Compare to Standard Oil or any other company that no longer has to maintain its reputation.
The entirety of the lede is a promotion for Tata: the *only* information included is information that (1) makes Tata seem big and important or (2) makes positive associates with the Tata brand.

Largest IP settlement

Tata was the recipient of one of the largest IP settlements in history. This is definitely notable enough for the lede. I'll revert. DenverCoder9 (talk) 02:37, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
