Long lines
[edit]An anonymous editor wishes to add to the article the fact that Tartine is known for having long lines. I don't disagree in principle (though I have some quibbles with the wording) but I feel that if it is added it should be supported by reliable sources that attest to the significance of the long lines for the subject, and I also feel that the two sources in question are not reliable. These sources are:
- Serrell Allison "Review of Tartine Bakery". "Long lines" is one of nine bullet points, listed among multiple other pros, cons, and description elements. I'm not convinced that about.com is a reliable source (see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 16#Huffington Post, Gawker and About.com, Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 22#About.com, and Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 27#About.com), and I also think that taking this one element out of context gives it undue weight.
- TripAdvisor Picture "Tartine Bakery: Images from TripAdvisor". A user comment on a photo uploading site states "Lines are long..." Clearly not a reliable source.
Additional opinions are welcome, as always. —David Eppstein (talk) 02:39, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- Being the anonymous editor, I can see what David Eppstien is hinting at. I am proposing to add a photograph. Perhaps we can add a field for food places that is known as "Average Wait Time", as I believe this is an important indicator. The users/editors are free to edit or append to this field, and the indicator computes an average perhaps. Or even a color bar that will indicate the range of wait times.
- It isn't easy to gather a more serious article other than something to the like of about.com for a bakery review. I believe it is a reasonable citation for what it's worth. Please consider re-wording than reverting!
- Just as a side note, in the above review by Serrell Allison, Long Lines is one of the 2 bullets in the Cons section. —2013-12-27T11:00:32 173.13.150.22
WHY? "Blue Bottle Coffee Company merger attempt"
