Article title
[edit]If West Tarring is the official name (as per the lead), should this article be officially be called West Tarring? ++ MortimerCat (talk) 06:18, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
pronunciation
[edit]- (pronounced "Ta-ring", not "Tar-ring").
Ta very much. What's the difference? —Tamfang (talk) 20:45, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- It's not very clear, is it? I think it's meant to mean a as in cat, not a as in tar. It's probably best to remove it, which I will do. Cheers, Tony Holkham (Talk) 21:23, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

Tarring, West Sussex → West Tarring – Correct name per OS and former parish, also avoids DAB per WP:NATURAL. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:21, 28 March 2024 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). Crouch, Swale (talk) 13:05, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm a bit undecided on this one. The historic village does seem to be West Tarring, but a lot of local sources just call it Tarring these days. E.g. [1] Maybe worth a full RM to flesh out the details — Amakuru (talk) 10:09, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Amakuru:, note that the ward is just "Tarring" but there is a separate article at Tarring (electoral division) already. Crouch, Swale (talk) 13:05, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Support per OS map and getting rid of dab. YorkshireExpat (talk) 18:37, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
