Please do not change Tanya's name to Tanya Cross until it is proved that Max and Tanya's divorce is declared absolute on screen.Alex250P (talk) 23:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, her name won't necessarily change even then — her boyfriend is a Branning, and so are her daughters, so she'll probably keep it IMHO. We'd have to wait for an on-screen (or BBC.co.uk) reference that she's reverted to her maiden name before we change it. DBD 13:15, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What is it with some peoples obsession with changing Tanya's surname. Many people still use their former married name when divorced. Douglasnicol (talk) 01:33, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's not for a woman to automatically change back to her maiden name in the UK. Her legal name would still be that of her ex-husband. anemoneprojectors 10:17, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, that's what I was saying. I suppose you could get it changed by deed poll or some other means, but it's not automatic. Douglasnicol (talk) 17:53, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously some people can't take the hint. Tanya's name will not automatically revert to Cross because of her divorce, quit changing it to Cross. Douglasnicol (talk) 17:30, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Decree nisi

Does the decree nisi end the marriage? Or does the decree absolute do that? DBD 00:35, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The decree absolute makes a marriage officially over which is why Max is still legally married to TanyaAlex250P (talk) 17:49, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So are they married or divorced or what?! AnemoneProjectors (talk) 17:32, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Their still married, they cancelled their decree absolute, they they were close to getting divorced but are now married again. Alex250P (talk) 18:20, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How do you know they cancelled their decree absolute? Did they not receive it and cancel the divorce between the nisi and the absolute? This was never referenced on screen, so how do you know? AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:28, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Though I'm sure you're right as I can't see EastEnders writers ever giving them a second wedding, so it obviously happened off screen and they are just assumed to have cancelled it. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:29, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For the last time, Tanya is arrested and she is charged with Max's attempted murder. DO NOT remove that information again. If you dont believe me then you can apologise later. Zacitty (talk) 20:06, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't personally been reverting your edits, or even keeping too close an eye on this article, but generally when making assertions about future storylines, it helps if you can cite a reliable source. Unless you can reference the material you're adding, it's likely to be continually reverted until such time it actually happens on screen. Frickative 20:12, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The original edit did have a reliable source but when it was reverted three times I gave up. Zacitty (talk) 20:14, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, is [1] this the reference you mean? Correct me if I'm wrong, the article's seen a lot of traffic in the past fortnight so the revision history is pretty lengthy. If it is that one, then Walford Web is generally not considered an appropriate source as it's a fansite. However, as it looks like their spoilers are copied directly from the BBC Press Office, if you can source the same thing to there then it shouldn't be a problem. Frickative 20:23, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is the one yeah. I only check it semi-reguarly, and this time because the storyline is intruiging. Zacitty (talk) 20:28, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This new edit was completley wrong so I removed it. Zacitty (talk) 07:57, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think we actually should say she's leaving and returning in 2010? She's going to be gone for about a year. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 19:12, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I never knew it was so long, if it is about a year then perhaps her duration should be 2006-2009, 2010— Whoniverse93 talk? 19:16, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even though she is temporalily leaving she will return and should remain 2006 - Present because she is still part of the cast. If you went on paternity or maternity leave you would still say you have worked in your job from 2006 - present. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.20.198.192 (talk) 20:32, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

i think we should put a new, updated picture because i have noticed that Tanya does look a bit different. She is cubbier now and often wears a lot of makeup and curls her hair.TheAW (talk) 16:09, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've put up a new one, it's not too good, it's a screenshot from youtube. you can revert it if you want. TheAW (talk) 16:09, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There's no need to upload a new images of Tanya. The first one was fine. She may have changed but it's still an image of Tanya. --GSorby Chat with Me! 15:52, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. Second point, your picture, TheAW, was stretched and incredibly poor quality. Third point, do not upload screenshots to Wikimedia Commons. Thanks. AnemoneProjectors 16:01, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I said it wasn't good. Oh well. and sorry, didn't know that wasn't supposed to be done.TheAW (talk) 16:09, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also, why can't we have a caption underneath the picture saying her name and when it's from? It'd let people know when it was from. TheAW (talk) 16:12, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Because it's not really necessary. Captions are only REALLY needed when the characters had more than one actor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GSorby (talkcontribs)
(edit conflict) Originally we were only using captions where there had been more than one actor portraying a role, but more and more have been creeping in. I don't see the need. AnemoneProjectors 16:20, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It mentions somethig about the upcoming wedding in April 2011 but I didn't know Tanya and Greg were planning to get married at all.--The Ultimate Koopa (talk) 00:15, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, the wedding has already passed, they got married in April.--5 albert square (talk) 00:25, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh dear. I think you may have missed quite a few episodes. They did get married in April.. It's June now.Rain the 1 BAM 01:31, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My point, exactly. I knew they GOT marrIED, but I didn't know they were planning to get married. The point being, that the article is unbelievably out-dated, and that the fact that wasn't updated is completely stupid and lazy.--The Ultimate Koopa (talk) 19:42, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, instead of choosing to insult your fellow editors, you could have taken 30 seconds to use the {{Update}} template and altered the tenses yourself. Frickative 20:18, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
If the OP had bothered to check after the last insult, the article was updated yesterday morning to change the tenses etc. I'm not sure what's left is unbelievably out of date any more, but I have left Frickative's template as there may be more to change. Stephenb (Talk) 09:41, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The template was mostly in reference to the storyline section, which could do with an update to mention Tanya and Max's affair. I started to do it yesterday, but ran out of editing time. In fact, I'll move it down to that section now. Frickative 09:51, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

I would like to request a move to Tanya Jessop. It is because Tanya is becoming known by Greg's last name. Also, Tanywa was from the East End. She has mentioned it, Cora described herself as "cockney", she met Max locally and Cora was described as an original East End matriarch. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.151.77.182 (talk) 07:04, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tanya Branning is her common name. Google picks up far more hits for Branning than it does Jessop. Plus she's been known as Branning for five years and Jessop for less than one. And please find a source for Cora mentioning that she's "cockney" and the rest. GSorbyPing 11:00, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Branning/Jessop 2012!

[edit]

Someone changed Tanya back to Branning. I reverted this as she is still credited as Tanya Jessop, as shown here, 6 April's episode. Her next episode, however, on 19 April, shows her as Tanya Branning. How the heck is this even possible?! Do the producers think we're stupid or something? –AnemoneProjectors13:47, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh god, now Tanya's being credited as Tanya Cross! [2] I hope this is a mistake/blip like when Lola went from Pearce to Mitchell to Pearce! She's Tanya Jessop goddammit!!!! –AnemoneProjectors11:50, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
GSorby has changed the article but I'd like to see some discussion - why would she suddenly have changed her name? –AnemoneProjectors13:31, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should be Tanya Branning, that's what she is known for, and with her and Max getting married soon... — M.Mario (T/C) 18:17, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, she may have changed it as her and Greg are now divorced (she did reference it a few months ago); but seems strange to revert to her maiden name for a matter of months. She would legally still be Tanya Lauren Jessop (nee Cross; Previously Branning) but if she has changed her name back then we would keep it... Alex250P (talk) 19:12, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But we dont actually know that the Tanya is going to remarry Max and become a Branning again, even if the characters intend it (and remember, Jo Joyner who plays Tanya is taking a break from EE in the not too distant future...). I say lets leave things as they are for now and see if Tanya continues to be credited as Cross. If so, then the article should reflect that. It is not uncommon for a woman to reassume her maiden name after divorce after all... Bleaney (talk) 21:04, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Legally she would still be Jessop even after her divorce, unless she changed her name legally back to Cross. I think we should see what happens in the credits too... after all, Lola didn't stay credited as Mitchell for long before going back to Pearce. –AnemoneProjectors13:00, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

She was credited as Cross on the credits from July 2012 right up until her last episode yesterday. What do you think? Tinamckintyre23 (Come and talk!) 10:57, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you're proposing that we rename the article, then no we shouldn't. She is still best known as Tanya Branning and had the name Branning for the majority of her time in the series. "Tanya Branning" gets 46,600 results on Google, while "Tanya Cross" gets just 25,200 results. In Google News, Tanya Branning also outnumbers Tanya Cross by a lot. If that's not what you meant, then please can you explain. –AnemoneProjectors18:15, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Final appearance

[edit]

Should be wait for a few episodes before adding her final appearance. I know her absence in tonight’s episode would imply that she has left but it doesn’t make sense that Abi would die and Tanya wouldn’t be there. Aacfsftw (talk) 00:54, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

She hasn't left yet. The press were told way back in early November that she would be appearing in a "handful" of episodes. 2 episodes isn't a handful imo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.167.176.35 (talk) 07:27, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
