I think as is stated elsewhere, H-S's derivations and Norse versions are invariably dodgy. I would go for them if you can't find anything elsewhere. But in this case, MacanT is probably more qualified academically. H-S's ON spelling doesn't look right to me. Harbour and haven are synonyms, but probably the best option is "Island of the Haven/Pasture". I think the ON for haven is something like Havn cf Torshavn, which comes out as Hofn in modern Icelandic (quoting from memory here).--MacRusgail (talk) 15:15, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
