[edit]This article about Tandjung Sari Hotel in Sanur, Bali has been written under a purely informational basis and seeks to add to Wikipedia an entry about the hotel's history and significance to the local area and the hotel industry in Bali as a whole. The hotel is objectively historically significant and many books and news articles have been written about it. There are no promotional intentions done with the writing of this entry and given the hotel and building's profile and history as such there is merit for the article to be on Wikipedia.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Raymondeuro (talk • contribs)
- Raymondeuro Note that Wikipedia is not for merely providing information, that is considered promotional here. Your emphasis on saying this isn't promotional leads me to conclude that you may have a conflict of interest; if so, you will need to declare that. 331dot (talk) 10:10, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, 331dot, I do not have any ties to the hotel or the business, nor any personal interests to the hotel or the article in question. I apologise for this talk about the entry not being promotional purely because of my frustration that two of the previous pages I have created and written today was marked for speedy deletion because they may be "promotional". I am very frustrated because those entries has been written in a manner and style, as closely as possible to existing similar pages. I feel that the people who had marked those pages had not read the pages itself and its contents, and as such I do not wish for this page to be marked for speedy deletion likewise. - Raymondeuro Please see other stuff exists; it isn't always a good idea to pattern an article after other articles, as those other articles could also be inappropriate. If you are going to use a model to write an article, I would advise you to use one that is rated as a Good Article. As I said, Wikipedia is not for merely providing information; it provides information to tell people that Walmart has a sale on computers, but that's not what we are about. Wikipedia is about summarizing what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about (in this case) a business, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization or business. This hotel has some documented history so it may be notable, but as this stands now this piece just tells about the existence of the hotel and that it had notable guests; notability is not inherited by association.
- Unless a user is very familiar with creating articles, I usually advise users to submit drafts using Articles for Creation so that any issues are worked out before the article is formally part of the encyclopedia, instead of afterwards. 331dot (talk) 10:33, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
