... that Tandiono Manu was appointed director in a British firm's Indonesian subsidiary due to his relationship with his predecessor?Source: White, Nicholas J. (2012). Modern Asian Studies. 46 (5): 1277–1315. p1306: "An Indonesian subsidiary of London Sumatra was registered in Jakarta and three Indonesian directors were appointed to the board, including Tandiono Manu, ex- Minister of Agriculture, who was believed to be a friend of Sadjarwo"

Hook eligibility:
- Cited: - Thanks for providing the relevant sentence from the offline source. It notes that Tandiono was a friend of Sadjarwo but doesn't actually establish that their relationship was connected to, or led to, Tandiono's appointment so I'm a little wary of drawing that conclusion from this source. Is there another source that makes that connection more clearly? Also, the current wording of the hook makes it sound like the "predecessor" position is referring to the director of the subsidiary rather than Minister of Agriculture.
- Interesting:

Overall: @Juxlos: Nice work on the article, see above. DanCherek (talk) 21:13, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
- @DanCherek: Unfortunately, the source only implies - I revised and extended the sentence a bit in the article. No direct connection unfortunately. I tried to find an alternate hook but couldn't, so if you'd like to reject this nomination go ahead. Juxlos (talk) 06:38, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. How about:
- ALT1: ... that Tandiono Manu was the vice governor of East Java for only 20 days?
- ALT2: ... that Tandiono Manu was appointed director of a plantation firm subsidiary as part of an attempt to improve Indonesian–British relations?
- If you think these are workable, I'll put out the icon for another person to review the hooks. DanCherek (talk) 15:17, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. How about:
- @DanCherek: ALT2 maybe? ALT1 can work too I suppose. Juxlos (talk) 15:32, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

- Uninvolved reviewer needed to check format and content of the new hook suggestions. DanCherek (talk) 15:35, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
Hooks are a bit boring - how about something contrasting his activities like:
- ALT3: ... that Tandiono Manu worked in a tax office, took part in guerrilla warfare and then become Minister of Agriculture?Chidgk1 (talk) 13:47, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Chidgk1: That sounds good actually. Maybe go with that? Juxlos (talk) 04:20, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I like ALT1 the best, but it's really only implied by the article and not directly stated (it says he became vice governor on 1 January and was appointed as a Minister on 21 January; coincidentally enough that's my birthday). I'm willing to accept that per WP:CALC; sources used are offline or Indonesian so AGF on that end. As for ALT3, it's okay but I still lean towards ALT1 for now. My main concern at the moment is that the lede only gives his date of birth and implies he's still alive even though he's already dead. It may be a good idea to include the possible years of death in the lede to make it clear that he is not alive. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 13:51, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
- I am fine with approving ALT3 and the lead thing brought up by NLH5 has been fixed. DanCherek (talk) 23:14, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
