Fair use rationale for Image:Phoenix (O-47A).jpg
[edit]Image:Phoenix (O-47A).jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Crash details
[edit]There are a number of accounts/interpretations of the Phoenix P-1's crash abroad. The details vary, some including an alleged hummuck of purported dry, hard sandy soil (depicted as a "small hillock" of same here previously) as the cause of the plane's breakup. Regardless of how this misimpression became part of the fatal accident's lore it simply isn't the case, as can be clearly seen in slow-motion photography of the impact, break-up, and roll-over available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n82nN_lqn58 starting at 0:51 (and repeated again at the video's end starting at 2:32). The plane makes impact in fundamentally flat sand (leaving a puff behind its wheels, its boom immediately beginning to fail), bounces up (the boom clearly breaking up), touches again in similar sand (leaving an identical puff behind its wheels), the boom continues to break as the heavy forward part of the plane droops downward due to a broken back, the engine/wing section pitch-poles over itself, the tail snaps completely, and the wreckage cartwheels to a stop. It is all there for the eye to see.Wikiuser100 (talk) 14:44, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
Introduction
[edit]The introduction reads that the Phoenix P-1 was "used in the picture's initial aerial sequences". Is this correct? The P-1 scenes came at the end of the movie. 31.18.191.211 (talk) 00:25, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
