Repede's English "voice"

You do realize it's not Makoto Ishii, right? My friend compared the Japanese and English versions, and he sounds different in both cases. In Japanese, you can tell it sounds like Ishii is trying to make Repede talk rather than bark. In English, he really sounds like a dog barking. And for those of you who plan on arguing, watch this video and listen carefully. It's not him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veLvi-tdY54&feature=channel_page Bokan (talk) 03:24, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Bokan

hahahaa vandalism?

"If this game does indeed release for the Xbox 360 it would result in utter failure as the primary fanbase for this series exists in Japan. The Xbox 360 has a japanese install base close to 500,000 and only two of its titles have sold over 100,000 copies in Japan. Thus it can be safely said that the people who decided to place this game on the Xbox 360 are retarded." Sounds very encyclopedic, probably worthy of uncyclopedia. Worth a daily laugh

P.S. I haven't removed it yet. . . . .Sylvanelite (talk) 08:42, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

-- Well, I have removed it, because it's totally opinion based. You can tell by the use of the terms "utter failure" and "retarded". No citations (lawlz), and complete conjecture of a fanboy. ModernTenshi04, 8:56AM 10 January 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 13:58, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Motoi Sakuraba's page

Did sakuraba actually list the site as a 360 game? I checked the page through archive.org and failed to find anything convincing. 68.147.223.143 (talk) 07:38, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

thats why it says until it was removed later, I could hunt down another screencap of it, but I am lazy, and they removed the other screencap I had up PseudoKirby (talk) 01:51, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

here, I cant cite for crap http://www.n4g.com/xbox360/News-96114.aspx

there is your proof, that should be enough PseudoKirby (talk) 01:54, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

North America??

Is there any proof that this is coming out in North America at all? I mean sure the XBOX is way more popular in NA than Japan but that doesn't really cut it as proof, does it. I'll change it so North America isn't mentioned in the release dates. LuGiADude (talk) 10:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Interviews have stated that there will be a North American release. Cutepresea (talk) 01:08, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
The references used in the article (such as 1UP Tales of Vesperia News: Bonnie Pink Sings Tales of Vesperia Themes) do explicitly state information regarding North American releases. Additionally, there are full English trailers for the game (Vesperia Trailer). -HeavenlyEire (talk) 06:02, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
As with HeavenlyEire. There were indeed several game online news sites, detailing the U.S version. And yes, for the first time. We'll be receiving the japanese song, instead of a traditional orchestrated japanese song we've been receiving of late. But with english lyrics (see Youtube). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zeta Nova (talkcontribs) 16:02, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Citation Needed

Uh where did Namco Bandai ever say that ToV was going to be released in Japan and the United States on the same day? I can't find anything about it, if there is some Japanese page then fine, but please cite it. This calling it a "fact" without providing a source isn't going to cut it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.223.40.250 (talk) 16:12, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

IGN and Gamespy interviewed an employee and has it on their site. If you go to GameSpy and type in "Tales of Vesperia" it says up front JUNE 24. (Kokayi5)

Release date

There's seem to be a large amount of confusion and conflicting reports over the release date. Some places list it as TBA, others say September, and others say June. I think if this were an officially made statement reports of the date wouldn't be so varied.

Until there's an actual press release or the site's distinctly mention the release date in an interview or something, and don't just have a date up without it being mentioned in those articles or interviews, I feel the game should be TBA 2008 and stay that way until more reliable info comes.Rpgmonkey (talk) 23:32, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I think the most accurate label (for the North American version, at least) would be "TBA 2008," as the most recent trailer for the game states "Coming 2008." -HeavenlyEire (talk) 05:40, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
I have an issue with the release date, because it is in Gamespot and i added it, but knowing that this game is an exclussive for the Xbox 360 (an american console) i don't really know what to put at the japan release date. I suppose the game will come first to America and then to Japan, because of the system it is for. For now i left it as it was, TBA 2008 for JP. Andrescapo (talk) 23:58, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Just a note, it's not a very good idea to base when you think it'll be released in relation to other countries' releases based on who made the console, because other Japanese made games for the Xbox 360 such as Blue Dragon or Eternal Sonata (the latter was made by the same company as this game) were released in Japan first. Cutepresea (talk) 22:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
I think it best just to leave the dates as TBA until an official release date from Namco, Tales Stuio or Production I.G. comes out. Gamespot, IGN and the others probably got their releases dates from different PR companies, so there is a decent chance that one of those release dates are real, but we have no idea of knowing which one is until we hear an official announcement. --98.223.40.250 (talk) 19:06, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
I added an invisi-line asking that no one edit the date without the date(s) being confirmed from a viable source. These dates from IGN and Gamespot and others need to stop being added when they are not necessarily true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.223.40.250 (talk) 21:41, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
This is so funny, in April 22nd i added the NA release date as August 19th and all this came out, and now look, there is the 19th i added that day xD. Andrescapo (talk) 02:10, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Adding U.S Voice Actors

Please do not add the english voice actors (there was a listing for Yuri for a english actor). As we don't have much info on who will be voicing who at this moment. (Zeta Nova) 19:46, 05 June 2008 (UTC).

Yes, please, and if anybody does have proof of any English voice actors besides "it sounds like them," then put it up as a source with the addition. Cutepresea (talk) 00:49, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
I give up. If you guys want to put it up based on what they sound like, go ahead, but you're gonna end up with the same arguments amongst people as the Tales of Legendia and Tales of the Abyss articles. I was trying to wait until an actual source popped up to list them (hopefully this game will have them listed in the credits). Cutepresea (talk) 04:23, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
There are videos out from the demo on youtube. You could determine voices from that. I think Michelle Ruff was Rita. I'm not too sure on her name, but it does sound like Rukia from Bleach. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.231.135 (talk) 11:16, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes, it is indeed Michelle Ruff. Good on ya mate ^^ *in Australian accent* XD Zeta Nova 15:00, 21 June 2008 (UTC).
I give up. You people just won't listen to reason. --98.223.40.250 (talk) 03:49, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
It seems you have issues considering this matter. Why don't you chill out for a while. And come back when you're ready to chat with us. Besides, it's not that hard to distinguish the actors. Zeta Nova 01:04, 08 July 2008 (UTC)
Our point is it needs a proper citation or else we'll end up with arguments and edit wars (even if you can tell who they are from the trailers). Note what I said up there about "other than 'it sounds like them."

Demo "review"

There's a "review" for the demo that was released. http://www.videogaming247.com/2008/06/20/tales-of-vesperia-demo-impressions/ There's really nothing positive the person had to say about it. It's more of a comparison than a review. As to what the comparison was to, it was Eternal Sonata. Some things that were said were that the graphics were "bland and lifeless", the music is "twee and lifeless", and it said that the English voices were horibble and they hope there will be Japanese voices with English subtitles. I thought it'd be better to put it here than the actual article itself. What do y'all think about it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.231.135 (talk) 13:54, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Sounds more like a whiny Eternal Sonata fanboy's complaints than a review. Let's wait for the game to be released for some actual reviews. Cutepresea (talk) 15:12, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, that guy can't be a reviewer with that prejuice style he has. No objective, just subjective... Andrescapo (talk) 02:31, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Seriously, the demo's tiny and is just a filler section part of the story, so of course the music isn't great and the English voices aren't exactly top-tier in those scenes. Let's wait for a real review of the full game.68.224.235.45 (talk) 20:27, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Regarding European Dates

I know you fans want to also add in dates regarding the PAL region. But please, do not add them yet. As we don't have much info other than the 2009 that was stated by Namco Bandai themselves. Thank you Zeta Nova 01:01, 08 July 2008 (UTC)

Europe gets screwed again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.101.236.146 (talk) 09:50, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

NA Boxart?

I know there's a little less than a month until the English release, but I'm not too sure about the boxart. There are two images floating around, the one in the article, and this one. They both look official, and the first one looks similar to other Tales boxarts (Abyss and RM...but those didn't have TACKY FLAMES!). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.229.228 (talk) 07:10, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, the 2nd one you posted seems more logical. Like you've got the background of Terca Lumeires and the 3 main characters. Zeta Nova 11:20, 30 July 2008 (UTC).

The one currently in the article is being used by Walmart.com, Link to Walmart's ToV page. Aoimusha (talk) 19:03, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Both boxes look official, but I'd stick with the one we have in the article for now, since the ESRB rating leads more credence to it being the "final" version. The one 74.193.229.228 linked is still RP and might be an earlier promo or mock-up box. Either way, we'll find out soon enough. Nall (talk) 20:32, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Time to create a characters article?

Well over half the article is about the characters of the game. Perhaps it's time to create a List of characters in Tales of Vesperia page? --Remy Suen (talk) 18:33, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

It's been done. Zeta Nova 22:29, 10 August 2008 (UTC).
What happened here? --Remy Suen (talk) 02:47, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
What's been done is an Antagonists of Tales of Vesperia article has been made. Remy was suggesting making one on all the characters. 67.232.245.35 (talk) 21:42, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, it seems rather excessive to individual ones for the different "types" of characters. --Remy Suen (talk) 22:55, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
How bout this. We create a seperate page for the characters. That take care of the whole character issue. Which would also include the U.S/japanese voice actors as well. Zeta Nova 22:34, 24 August 2008 (UTC).

Vesperia's Arena

It seems that according to the Namco Tales forums. That you can fight Tales of Phantasia's Dhaos in the Vesperia arena. This' due to the new japanese scan. Which depicts Dhaos and the screens for the Vesperia arena. Zeta Nova 14:10, 30 July 2008 (UTC).

Pretty sure that's just a rumor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.229.228 (talk) 08:15, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Rumor? No it isn't. EVERYTHING that the scans reveal is considered official. And this is been confirmed Zeta Nova 11:35, 07 August 2008 (UTC).

Limited Edtion

So there is a LE for this? Any info on it?

If you read the article that came with the pic, you should know that it's $10 more than the game, it comes in a special casing, which uses the JP boxart (thank God), and it comes with a special soundtracks with music from Phantasia, Destiny, Symphonia, Abyss, and Vesperia. Here's a link to the article http://blogs.ign.com/NB_TalesOfVesperia/2008/08/04/

moved Flynn

I moved Flynn from playable characters since he isn't one of them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RealRael (talkcontribs) 13:26, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

um..he is. Only if it's just for one long battle, he's still playable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.229.228 (talk) 07:47, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Split proposal

I propose that the character list in Tales of Vesperia be taken out completely and placed into List of characters in Tales of Vesperia. The Characters list (in which I tried to PROD but has been contested, but that can be discussed at another time) contains nearly the same information as the list in this article. The character descriptions need to be in one place and one place only. Please discuss below and indicate whether you support or oppose the split. MuZemike (talk) 08:49, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Request for semi-protection

I have requested that the article be semi-protected at WP:RPP due to the increased amount of anon vandalism going on lately. MuZemike (talk) 13:51, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

We do have a bit of a revert war going on pertaining to the voice actor for Judith in the game, and it is becoming annoying. --98.223.40.250 (talk) 22:12, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

My first request for semi-protection has been denied. We need to build a better case on constant disruption from anons. Make sure everyone is reverting vandalized edits (remember, they do not count against 3RR), and that those (anon) users suspected of vandalizing the article are warned appropriately per WP:WARN. If sufficient action has been taken by users to try to curb the vandalism, and they still persist, then there is a case for semi-protection provided everything is documented. MuZemike (talk) 06:29, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Hm, I do admit. I've gone overboard with the reverts about Judith's voice actor. I'll stop. --98.223.40.250 (talk) 21:15, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Re: Request for semi-protection

Could someone please put the voice actors back to the way they were last week? All of this back and forth, deletion and undo. They were correct at one point. Then maybe it can be locked down...

Joeactor (talk) 14:38, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Honestly, I would just remove the whole thing (not that I'm the anon who has been). How much of this can actually be sourced to official websites and filmographies? Contentious statements need verifiable sourcing, or else you get anons shuffling names around over and over. —tan³ tx 07:33, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Full Voiced Skits...

Unlike the English releases of Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss, skits in the English release of Tales of Vesperia are fully voiced by the English voice actors, which is also the case in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.

Add Tales of Legendia to the end, as it had full voiced skits. 66.168.19.135 (talk) 01:09, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Why were the voice actors removed?

Just wondering. They were there about a month ago... I swear, this non-union stuff pisses me off because they generally don't get the best actors out there (see ToS2), but in this game, where they hired some really damn good people, it's not union and they don't put the actors in the credits. Hopefully Namco and the SAG make up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.181.33.41 (talk) 20:37, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

They were the subject of a long-running edit war between registered editors and anons alike, and that sort of thing is never good. One anon finally deleted all of it, and it's been like that since. Even the main cast's Japanese VAs were being changed around, and those are listed (kinda) clearly on the official Japanese website. —tan³ tx 03:43, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
They should go now. It's only going to cause more controversy. It isn't that important to the game. The list should just be deleted. --67.163.54.70 (talk) 18:07, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Estelle's VA

Star Ocean: Second Evolution came out recently, and the female lead had the exact same voice as Estelle. Claudia Lenz is Estelle's VA. For sure. sonickenshin 03:43, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

For sure? Sheesh who still talks like that? Are you certain this Claudia Lenz woman is Estelle? 130.166.33.131 (talk) 19:07, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Don't judge me. sonickenshin 17:18, 09 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes, they sound exactly the same. Try listening to her for yourself and you'll see what we mean. Also if you're going to put Claudia Lenz for Estelle, just put the real voice actor who is Hynden Walch. Claudia Lenz is just her pseudonym. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.202.198.178 (talk) 06:15, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Hynden Walch was NEVER confirmed, though. But, this one sounds exactly like Estelle. sonickenshin 17:18, 09 February 2009 (UTC)

PS3 Inclusion

I really think the information related to a possible Playstation 3 version should be taken down. IGN has been known to pull April Fools' pranks all the time and never outright come out and say they were pranks at a later time. Unless we have a confirmation from Namco Bandai themselves the rest of it is just hearsay and should not be included in this article. --71.229.66.161 (talk) 04:30, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Were it just IGN reporting it with no evidance you may have a point but multiple sites reported it and there are rather official looking scans from JUMP magazine.NobleServent2 (talk) 05:57, 3 April 2009

IGN is not the only one kotaku has also reported it. Till now no one has claimed its an April's Fool's Joke. GameFAQs has also put up a profile page which they don't usually do for rumoured games. The info was also released in a scan with Tales of Graces and Tales of VS. So its really convincing enough. Here is the kotaku article http://kotaku.com/5194343/tales-of-vesperia-ps3+bound-more-tales-spun and another source http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2770.html KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 10:33, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
All of this originated from one to two sources, I don't think that is very credible. As for the scans they are horrible quality and could easily be forged and anyone who considers IGN as a reliable source for gaming media needs to get their checked. I actually do suppose at least parts of this is true, but why not just wait until Namco Bandai confirms something? --71.229.66.161 (talk) 00:31, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Well if really is a fake someone would have come up and revealed it already by now. The last time someone faked a PS3 Port of Vesperia it was confirmed to be a fake within a day. http://kotaku.com/5135913/tales-of-vesperia-ps3-release-confirmed that was the article. Plus the scan came with Tales of Graces and Tales of VS. KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 09:56, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Major Update the Official PS3 Japan Site is up. http://tov.namco-ch.net/ps3/ It is now officially confirmed. KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 09:47, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Patty Fruel VS Fluer

There is massive confusion about the Last English name of the new Pirate Girl in the PS3 Version Port. It is confirmed that her First name is Patty. Her last name is either Fruel or Fleur. Fruel is supported by Kotaku while Fluer is supported by IGn. Which one should we use? KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 13:10, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

フルール can be taken as either one (Fleur or Fruel, I mean), but I've seen more Japanese sites using "Fleur" (such as this article from 4Gamer.net). I've honestly never seen Fluer used... 173.18.23.151 (talk) 05:57, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
This pretty much confirms "Fleur." 173.18.23.151 (talk) 12:18, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

English PS3

Does anyone know if the writting stuff will be in english for the PS3 version? --Ryu-chan (Talk | Contributions) 15:10, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Duke Pantarei?

Is there an official source for his last name? I never saw it in the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.180.38.130 (talk) 11:43, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

First I've ever heard of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.193.229.228 (talk) 14:51, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Option to switch dialogues?

I don't recall seeing anything on the US Tales of Vesperia site about an option to choose the voice-overs. Is the US version strictly English or can we change the dialogue? Also, would anyone be opposed to adding a blurb on the article regarding the voice-over option? (Psychoneko (talk) 02:11, 16 September 2009 (UTC))

No, there is no dual audio option. After you beat the game though if you wait for the opening to play again, it'll play the japanese song instead of english.
Oh, okay. I guess I'll have to import this then. Thanks for answering! (Psychoneko (talk) 23:38, 18 September 2009 (UTC))

I've changed that this is the second tales game to be released in Europe

to the fifth, because.....well it is, (Eternia (psp), Symphonia (gamecube), Vesperia (360) Radiant Mythology (psp)

Symphonia: Dawn of A New World (Wii), granted they arn't all "mothership" titles, but that wasn't the point of the statment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.40.184 (talk) 09:33, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

ToV is now On Sale for PS3

The game came out yesterday (or two days ago, no thanks to the international date line). Joystiq has mentioned this: http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/09/18/ps3-version-of-tales-of-vesperia-sells-over-140k-in-one-day/ (Psychoneko (talk) 00:18, 19 September 2009 (UTC))

Patty Fleur

Now that the game is out we should improve on her character bio. What was previously written was when she was first announced and there was absolutely no info at all. This is the only source I could currently find that helps http://scrawlfx.com/2009/04/a-closer-look-at-patty-fleur-in-new-tales-of-vesperia-screenshots As well as the fact that she can summon several characters, but I still think we need to search for abit more info.KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 14:16, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
