Ok, I'm a new author on Wikipedia, and I'm only beginning to understand the rules and the culture here, but this is discouraging. I find a Wikipedia page on a band (Gigolo Aunts) in which I have interest, but it seems to be pretty sparse and poorly referenced, so I set about trying to improve it. The discography is incomplete and full of errors, so I take that on first, making a some mistakes along the way but trying to learn from them. But Wikipedia just keeps beating me down. I go out a drop a C note on a rare record by the band, expressly for the purpose of providing the track listing on Wikipedia, and less than 24 hours later, Wikipedia goes off on me for not having any references (How exactly does one reference a record album? And by the way, it's been less than 24 hours, I'm not done writing it yet!!!) and tells me that it may not meet the notability requirement (I suppose because it is a rare record? I would think the track listing of a relatively rare record by a notable band is exactly why people go to Wikipedia in the first place.). It's as if in the middle of writing a term paper, someone comes along and writes "D+" at the top for all the world to see. This sucks.

Firstly, welcome to Wikipedia. And yes, I can remember how I was confused when people would not let me just write stuff about things I knew a lot about. There's a lot to learn, but your enthusiasm should get you far enough along for starters. Do have a look at your Talk page. (Just click on that link.) Someone has already placed some good pointers there. And probably the most relevant learning for your current issue is at Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. You are not allowed to just add material like your article without a reference to an external source which describes what you want to write about. It cannot be just what's in your own head. That's called original reearch. Have a read, and see how you go.

I'm done whining, thanks. I added a number of citations to demonstrate the notability of the album, including Trouser Press and Discogs. Several sources reference the album as being rare, but it is significant because it was the first of four releases by the band to be initially (or in three of the cases only) put out by a Spanish records label. What makes this remarkable is that they were an American band from Boston that played Anglo power pop. In the context of its impact upon the music of Gigolo Aunts, already established as a notable band (see Talk: Gigolo Aunts), I would argue that the album is notable in its own right. Given that it is a proper studio album and not simply some live bootleg or collection of demos, the discography of the band would incomplete without it.
