Is Taldou still a Sunni village?

[edit]

The link given for this is from 1841. Smith, 1841, p. 179. Houla has been desribed as a Sunni town surrounded by Alawite villages. Just wondering if Taldou is still Sunni, and not Alawite.MrSativa (talk) 00:05, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Since Taldou has become relatively well-known during the war, I'm sure one could find plenty of recent (from 2011-12) sources that describe its inhabitants as Sunni Muslims to add to the 1841 source. However, at the same time, many villages in these frontline areas may have been abandoned by now so I'm not completely sure about the population today. However, I doubt local Alawite Muslims have simply appropriated the village. Worth looking into. --Al Ameer (talk) 00:10, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
