This article was recently moved here by user: Epistemos from the original Tabourie Lake, New South Wales. While this move makes sense based on some sources, I query this. Growing up in the area, I always took for granted that both names were in common use. When it comes to the official name of the place, unfortunately it seems to be unclear as reliable sources vary. The Australian Bureau of Statistics lists the population and demographics for the State Suburb Lake Tabourie. The NSW Geographic Names Board [1] however has multiple entries - Lake Tabourie as a suburb assigned in 1999 (presumably superseding "Tabourie Lake" as the name of a village assigned in 1970). However the GNB also lists Tabourie Lake as a "rural place", defined as "A place, site or precinct in a rural landscape, generally of small extent, the name of which is in current use" also assigned in 1999. To further confuse matters, the official name of the body of water from which the community takes its name appears to be "Tabourie Lake", while publications from the Shoalhaven City Council make use of both names, and the welcome signs at the approaches on the highway read Tabourie Lake.

For the time being, I have put both variations into the article's introduction as well as the pre-1970 spelling "Toubouree". Is there a clear or more appropriate convention for the correct location/naming of articles in situations such as this? Dfadden (talk) 13:25, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lake Tabourie is a bounded populated locality which the article is about; the lake (should it need an article) and obsolete names are as such, and irrelevant here Epistemos (talk) 10:09, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree with Dfadden here. Lake Tabourie is officially registered as a suburb.[2] Tabourie Lake is a village within the suburb.[3] The focus of this article is clearly the village, and not the suburb so it should be at Tabourie Lake, New South Wales unless the article is expanded to cover the entire suburb. --AussieLegend (✉) 15:10, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
