Mentally Ill?

[edit]

Describing Garrett B. Trapnell as "mentally ill" is misleading and does not contribute to a reader's understanding. The term is inherently too ill-defined for serious application. He claimed to be mentally ill (whatever that means), he was found to have deceived officials deliberately as to the extent and nature of such illness and was determined, as far as the law goes, not to have been mentally ill to such an extent as to escape conviction for the hijacking via an insanity defense. It is entirely possible that most or all of Mr. Trapnell's supposed mental illness was actually faked. The subsequent actions of his wife and daughter cannot be attributed to his illness and, instead, suggest other motives and attitudes underlying his action (and theirs). How did they meet?

[edit]

Removed this piece of extraneous information:
"(became friends with Garret Brock Trapnell, after reading Elliot Asinov's book, A Fox Is Crazy Too)"
which, aside from being syntactically misplaced, was confusing. Can anyone confirm how Oswald and Trapnell met?

This information should also be added to the Trapnell article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.204.66.127 (talk) 15:08, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
