Questions

[edit]
  • Which cells produce TRAIL, and under what circumstances?
  • Does TRAIL act on the receptors of the cell that produced it, or on some other cell?
  • Is TRAIL a transmembrane protein, or is it released into the extracellular fluid? (The article states that it has "characteristics of a transmembrane protein".)

Identification and characterization of a new member of the TNF family that induces apoptosis. says " TRAIL is a type II membrane protein, whose C-terminal extracellular domain shows clear homology to other TNF family members. TRAIL transcripts are detected in a variety of human tissues, most predominantly in spleen, lung, and prostate." - Rod57 (talk) 14:27, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
