Helena Gorayska

[edit]

Interesting page: Is there anything further known about Helena Gorayska; she sounds the sort of person who should have a page of her own, even if it's only a short stub - it may attract someone with some information at a later date.  Giano  18:26, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I thought the same thing as you already, but unless the Karta Centre, who digitized her photograph, decides to publish her bio online, there's nothing to go by as far as her life beyond World War II sacrifice. I will keep an eye open. Poeticbent talk 18:56, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What a pity. But at least she's mentioned somewhere here - albeit all too briefly.  Giano  19:46, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See map…

SVG file

"Jewish zone on the north side of the camp behind a barb-wire fence (see map)"

Unfortunately the map is in Polish, so seeing the map does little to aid comprehension. I can't make out anything that looks like North or barb wire. Any chance of a translation? Maury Markowitz (talk) 19:50, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The fence runs horizontally, with Jewish barracks marked "#7". I would have made a new SVG version in English if I knew how to use Inkscape properly. But I don't, sorry. Poeticbent talk 20:38, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sentence structure...

[edit]

The line the current DYK hook is based on: "The only person who helped the sick during typhus epidemic was a courageous young lady, Helena Gorayska, who paid for it with her own life in 1942 infected with typhus,[4] undoubtedly ordered to vacate the estate long before it became the scene of wild drinking parties for the SS.[5]" Say what? Come on guys, I know you can write better than this! Wnt (talk) 21:57, 8 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
