Article for retention (somewhere else)

[edit]

I hope that when this page is deleted from Wikipedia that there is another place to archive it (unless it is libelous, of course). --Hjal 06:14, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The entertaining mis-information has been archived here. NorCalHistory 04:34, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a site with a lot of information about the Sydney Ducks, if someone wants to expand this article with accurate information. NorCalHistory 06:32, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-accurate information, that is. As with many 19th century historians Herbert Asbury had quite a bias. He tended to the salacious and is accused of being fairly loose in his fact checking. I guess victory always goes to those who write the histories. Wikidemo 00:37, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I re-wrote it, though it could still use expansion. Given that the newspapers were all pro-vigilante in the 1850s, the Sydney Ducks haven't fared too well in the historiography, so hopefully this helps. bobanny (talk) 21:48, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality

[edit]

This article reads like an apologu for the Sydney Ducks, instead of a neutral treatment. A rewrite would be in order.--King Bedford I Seek his grace 13:15, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you be more specific? It's a stubby article, so it's incomplete. But if you're suggesting the Sydney Ducks were in fact responsible for a crime wave that was so bad in SF that it justified a coup by the Vigilantes, you need to make that case, preferably with support from a reliable source.

Why Ducks?

[edit]

Why were they called ducks? Is is because they were 'ducking' out from hard times in Ireland and prison sentences in Australia? Signed: "Ginger Pale". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.223.190.169 (talk) 02:10, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
