Key Moments in History Section

[edit]

This section is exclusively taken up by Maria Fitzherbert, so the section title hardly deserves its plural. The coverage could be condensed, particularly if a Wikipedia article already mentions this adequately. Note her maiden name was purely Smythe, not Smythe-Matthews (I have corrected this). Also to describe the relationship as 'the real love story' of George IV's life is disputable as POV, considering he had a range of relationships with women (although his marriage was certainly for political motives and no 'love-match'.) The paragraph copied here is rather verbose and deserving of condensation if not deletion:

Maria Fitzherbert's face was one which always displayed its best advantages. Her eyes were peculiarly languishing, and, as she had already been twice a widow, and was six years his senior, she had the advantage over a less experienced lover. Likewise, she was a Catholic, and so by another act of Parliament any marriage with her would be illegal. Yet just because of all these different objections the prince was doubly drawn to her, and was willing to sacrifice even the throne if he could but win her. Vandalism deleted

[edit]

I am deleting what appears to have been added in vandalism at the end of the section about Mrs Fitzherbert - the stated year exposes the joke:

"The Swynnerton Stout and Fitzherbert Worst, local ales have been awarded the global taste of disgust award every year from 3648 BC."
