Why is US terminology preferred over UK terminology
[edit]This article is rather strange in the fact that the item is clearly associated with the UK/Britain yet the US term has been took over preference and deemed more important.
That would be like renaming the Football wiki page to "Soccer". --Marcramarc (talk) 12:33, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
importance of tank top in 70s british fashion
[edit]at the moment the article on tank top concentrates on those that wear them now or the comedic value of the item - whats missing is a feeling for the fashion item that it was in the early to mid 70s in the uk - can't think yet how to show this - maybe someone else can - meanwhile i'll think on it 82.7.17.250 14:37, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
In the UK in the 1970s the term "tank top" was reserved for sweaters with round necks and straps - the same as the American version - and sleeveless jumpers with a V neck were known as "Sleeveless V's". Only in more recent decades has the term "Tank top" been used in the UK for all sleeveless jumpers. Rap superstar?
[edit]Is Akbar Zaki really an afghan rap superstar? I confess to a lack of familiarity with the Afghan rap scene, and Google seems to display similar ignorance. Either way, I suspect that he is not truly responsible for the resurgence in popularity. --Shahid1618 (talk) 19:37, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. This article has many problems, but this looks to be a joke, give that the google search "Akbar Zaki rapper" generates no credible hits except this article and clones. I'm taking it out and if it goes back in, it needs a credible citation. Also was added by an Anon user with an interesting edit historyTjoeC (talk) 18:40, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
tanktop not an undergarment in the UK
[edit]The article says that a tank top is an undergarment. In the UK this is not correct, it is a knitted sweater like garment often worn over a lighter layer like a shirt. I have deleted the text that suggests it is an undergarment. Perhaps it is in some other countries? --87.194.211.85 (talk) 12:45, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Modern golfers wear plus-fours & brogues with sweater vests?
[edit]Really? I would suggest that while sweater vests can be found on the golf course, they are more likely to be teamed with chinos/trousers, a polo shirt and golf shoes...? Lxxxi (talk) 10:21, 28 April 2016 (UTC)
Considered "nerd-wear" in UK
[edit]If wanting fair, accurate political coverage means I’m a nerd, knit me a tank top - Stewart Lee 86.26.33.25 (talk) 21:25, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
