Holmes refers to the snake that killed Roylott as a 'swamp adder.' Baring-Gould's annotated Holmes collection (1992 edition) discusses a debate over the snake's identity and the possibility of Julia Stoner being killed by a different species than Roylott but Holmes (as written by Doyle) himself considered the two deaths the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MeDrewNotYou (talkcontribs) 00:50, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
