Suzuki ATVs

Looks unaccurate
The article says: "133 distributors in 192 countries."
This looks unaccurate. If the company has presence in 192 countries, and has at least one distributor per contry, how could be there less distribuitors than countries? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.145.238.164 (talk) 14:12, August 30, 2007 (UTC)
- A distributor can have multiple franchises or warehouses, I would assume. So maybe these franchises/warehouses are located in multiple countries. Pandacomics (talk) 06:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Car model error

I removed all the external links except the link to the company's global website. there is no need for all the country websites since they can be accesed through the global site. I also removed forum, fansites and other links in accordance with WP:EL Chris Ssk (talk) 22:02, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Pronounced
Some seem to have taken offence to the comment that the common English pronunciation of Suzuki is an incorrect one. There should be no offence taken. Mr. Suzuki's name is pronounced as the Japanese pronunciation is on this article. Because of this, the company is also pronounced this way. It is the same situation with Porsche. Dr. Porsche's name is not pronounced as a single syllable and it is therefore incorrect to refer to his car company in such a way. It would be incorrect to pronounce Henry Ford's Ford company as fur-ed, as that would be the incorrect pronunciation of Henry's last name. This is also the case with Suzuki.
Suzuki as a proper Japanese name is not pronounced in the way it is typically done so by English speaking individuals. This pronunciation by English speaking individuals is therefore incorrect. Again, there is no reason to take offence at this, it is just the way it is. Deal with it. Dale-DCX (talk) 07:02, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Biased Motorcycles
The section on motorcycles seems heavily biased towards sport bikes (GSX) only and a moped. How come Suzuki is written in katakana?
I'm sorry, I am not very familiar with Japanese. But I was wondering why the company Suzuki (スズキ) is written in katakana, and not in kanji like the family name Suzuki (鈴木). Honda (本田) is still written in kanji like its family name. Thanks, --71.141.132.210 (talk) 20:54, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it's true that the company name "Suzuki" came from the family name of the founder "鈴木", along with "Toyota" came from "豊田". But the official names registered to the Japanese Government are "スズキ株式会社" and "トヨタ自動車株式会社".
- In contrally, "Honda" is "本田技研工業株式会社" and "Nissan" is "日産自動車株式会社".

Page move back to Suzuki
The consensus from the discussion above was to keep the page at Suzuki, not to move it to Suzuki Motor Corporation. At the time I supported the move but if you just ignore consensus you can expect the page to be moved back.

Misleading statement removed
In this edit I removed a statement, based on this press article, which stated that most of Suzuki's profits came from its Indian subsidiary. That is not what the press article said and it is incorrect to assume that just because subsidiary X from country Y makes a profit of Z, which happens to be bigger than the parent company's overall profit, that subsidary X is the largest contributor. Without a country-by-country and subsidiary-by-subsidiary publication/comparison or a direct statement by Suzuki in its annual report (or other financial submission) there is no way of knowing exactly what makes up the parent company's final profit figure. Obviously if such a source can be found then it should be used and the claim reinstated. --Biker Biker (talk) 10:26, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
Unsupported statement
The article states " Suzuki put XL7 production on indefinite hiatus in mid-2009 due to low demand and subsequently sold off its share of CAMI back to GM later that year." without any supporting evidence.
It is unlikely, given Suzuki sales numbers for the XL7 in the US were similar to the other vehicles in their line up, that they stopped production for that reason. I suspect it was more to do with GM selling their share in Suzuki and invoking their claim to the remaining ownership of the CAMI plant, coupled with GM's reluctance to assist other automakers they cast away - eg. Saab, and GM's deliberate refusal to support Saab find new buyers by allowing continued access to GM parts; cf. with how Ford handled the sale of Volvo, allowing the new owners 5 years of continued supply of Ford parts until they could establish their own internal design/supply. The reality is that Suzuki was forced to stop XL7 production by GM as GM liquidated their share of Suzuki and CAMI. Ideally, I'd like the sentence changed to reflect what happened, but I honestly can't be bothered to dig the references up for a single sentence, so I'd be equally happy if the sentence (as it currently is) was deleted as simply unsupported/unreferenced. 75.54.54.34 (talk) 00:53, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- The way to accomplish that is to place a {{cn}} or {{fact}} tag at the end of the disputed sentence, where the reference would normally go. A bot will then date it, and after you wait a reasonable amount of time (my theory is to wait until I forget all about it, and whenever I remember it again is a good time to check) it can safely be deleted if no one found a reference. - News link. Since Wikipedia is not news, give this a week or two to settle so we can write something comprehensive. An encyclopedia doesn't need to be up-to-the-second. Wikinews can handle it.
