Name

[edit]

I'd like to discuss whether this page should be listed under "Suzhou River" or "Suzhou Creek" (with redirections for the respective other term). I noticed virtually all historical and current English sources (books, postcards, maps) use the name "Suzhou Creek", while "Suzhou River" seems to be the literal translation of the Chinese name, as used in the English title of Lou Ye's film. Even officially Chinese projects have "Suzhou Creek" in their English name, if a translation exists. A Google search results in around 14,000 hits for "Suzhou River" opposed to almost 30,000 hits for "Suzhou Creek", cleaned up from all pages referring to the movie. Opinions? --Bluebird47

Since no one has commented or objected in almost 2 weeks, I have moved the content to Suzhou Creek. Further discussion on the talk page there. --Bluebird47

You probly should've moved the talk page as well. --Sumple (Talk) 12:34, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suzhou RiverSuzhou River (film) — The most common meaning for Suzhou River is Suzhou Creek, so Suzhou River should redirect there, with this article with a disambigged name — Tovarishch Komissar Dialogue Stalk me 21:11, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"45万" is translated as 45,000 in all English subtitles, but actually means 450,000. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.224.49.68 (talk) 19:21, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
