I recently made a number of changes to the article, which were reverted -- I've reinstated them and hoping we can discuss here. The section as previously written was an unreferenced, poorly written, grammatically atrocious mess that was an overlap of categories -- some were range brackets, some were guidance types, some were flight profiles, etc. I've written an explanatory paragraph at the beginning of the section, indicating the different ways that these missiles can be categorized with wikilinks to the relevant articles where applicable and not already included later in the article. With this text, there is no need to include an indiscriminate, poorly sourced list of categorize, especially when these categories overlap or are can be subsets of each other (the previous text directly implied this could not be the case). Additionally, I removed anti-tank guided missiles from the section, as the term surface-to-surface missile in the defense context almost exclusively refers to heavier, beyond line-of-site ordnance; and from a technical standpoint ATGMs are definitionally cruise missiles that only distinguish themselves by having orders of magnitude smaller payload and ranges. Additionally the section on ATGMs was removed as being unsourced (and the claim of average range, was original research). Tactical ballistic missiles were removed as being overly granular because they are a subset of SRBMs -- the term "tactical" is often misused as a statement of range rather than of intended usage, but regardless they fit into the broader category of SRBMs. Theater Ballistic Missiles were removed because "theater" is not a generally accepted range bracket nor a uniformly agreed upon categorization of missile; the definition of a theater ballistic missile varies widely depending on the geographic scope of the theater -- there are few non-citogenesis reliable sources that use this terminology as a range band. Similar issues for LRBM. Finally, I adjusted the range brackets for the remaining range bands to reflect the internationally accepted definitions used by the Arms Control Association, rather than the U.S.-specific ones from the CRS. Happy to discuss further changes, but the article is much improved from its previous state.SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 23:56, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for bringing this to discussion. But since you're making a change to the format of the article, the pre-existing format should stay until the discussion is resolved. Not the other way around. DA1 (talk) 01:40, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, then please join the discussion and state any objections. If you have none, or aren't prepared to do so at this time, please self-revert and allow the improvements to go through. That's how WP:BRD works. Not the other way around. (Additionally, unsourced claims may be removed at any time and do not require prior discussion or approval.) At this point I'll have to assume there are no actual objections and I'll be continuing with my original edits. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 07:30, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
