NTM doesn't exist anymore
[edit]"While officially the band still exists, and its well-known name was used in 2001 to promote a 'duel' album pitting the two label's artists against each other, Kool Shen was quoted in 2004 saying "on a fini avec NTM en 98" ("We were done with NTM in 1998")."
It's official, NTM doesn't exist anymore. Joey Starr and Kool Shen made solo albums and are the manager of two different "labels" (french meaning). Kool Shen said he will stop his career soon. Joey Starr continue.
And the album called "The Clash" isn't a rap clash, it's a compilation of their two labels. So it's the proof that they stopped to work together...
how are they notable?
[edit]are they on a major label? did they invent a new style? if not, they aren't really notable.--Urthogie 11:57, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- NTM is one of the major hip hop groups to perform in the French language. They have released seven albums on the label Sony Music Entertainment (France), their music has been featured in films and on soundtracks, and their more violent lyrics have been criticized in major French publications. Not only are they notable, but they are one of the most notable hip hop groups in France.--Rockero 18:05, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ok. Seems notable then. One thing you should do is establish this notability in the article. None of these important facts are mentioned. Peace, --Urthogie 18:41, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
2008 Rebirth
[edit]The band rebirth in 2008, see French page: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suprême_NTM#2008.2C_l.27ann.C3.A9e_du_retour —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mammique (talk • contribs) 20:03, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
UK influence
[edit]It should be noted, that the UK rap group Gunshot has claimed to have inspired NTM in the early days. This is plausible, due to the very similar style of beats and the speed (which was quintessentially a UK thing, and still remains to be so) of NTMs first album "Authentik".
MC Mercury (of Gunshot) has commented on this, saying

Where you surprised at how well your other albums did, like in France?
Mercury
Yes and no! Although we had a certain level of success in France, it was no way near the level of sales that IAM or NTM would make. Nevertheless, Gunshot has always had a strong link with France. Our first label, Vinyl Solution, was owned and run by 2 French guys and our very first TV appearance and video was done by a French TV station. Its just a shame that we never exploited our success in France earlier on in our career. I know that with "Battlecreek Brawl", we inspired the likes of NTM and created a bit of a following off the back of that one 12". Who knows what might have happened if we had toured extensively out there. Never mind!
