Untitled
[edit]Deleted the Six Flags Magic Mountain entry. The Superman roller coaster there is called "The Escape", not "Ride of Steel". Also updated the links for the parks.
I updated the awards section reflecting Amusement Today's unveiling of the 2006 Golden Tickets. Congrats to the coaster at SFNE for taking the top spot once again!
CLOSED
[edit]At darien lake, the ride had a motor problem, and the ride was shut. According to one worker "the motor had a seziure". Should we add this to the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.182.101.225 (talk) 23:25, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Split?
[edit]Shouldn't this be split into the SFNE version and the other two? SFDL's and SFA's are clones or near clones, were as SFNE's is much different. I bet there's enough information about it to warrant a separate article anyway. I think articles that combine more than one coaster should be restricted to clones only, and just have a link to the other one (See WikiProject_Roller_Coasters) My little needle 18:54, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- I was about to say the same thing. SFNE's version is completely different from DL's and SFA's versions. I'm going to create a SFNE Superman page, and use this one for just SFA's and DL's. (Coasterman1234 (talk) 21:24, 18 December 2007 (UTC))
Error
[edit]"A near-fatal accident occurred on the Darien Lake version in 1999 when a passenger was thrown from the train on one of the final hills. He of course died, as a result, the park installed standard seat-belts and imposed further restrictions on passenger size and weight."
So which is it, a near-fatal accident or that "he" died? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.118.253.28 (talk) 00:46, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- I fixed this and added a citation, he only suffered minor injuries. Phydend (talk) 02:03, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Superman
[edit]This ride, at least the one at Darien lake, is no longer assosiated with superman. It is simply called "ride of steel". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bazil4385 (talk • contribs) 18:48, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Split discussion
[edit]I have suggested a split because the article itself mainly is about the Six Flags America ride Superman - Ride of Steel, and additionally, it doesn't make note of how the Darien Lake version is now Ride of Steel.
DmcReif (talk) 12:31, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Split rationale is not clear - a split appears to have taken place - resubmit request with clearer rationale is split still required. SilkTork *YES! 00:17, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Split the Six Flags America and Darien Lake versions
[edit]The rides are almost entirely different besides for the layout at this point. I think it would benefit if this article remained about the Six Flags America version and another article, Ride of Steel (Darien Lake) was created for the Darien Lake version.--Astros4477 (talk) 06:31, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- Why not Ride of Steel? It is already categorised for Darien Lake. Themeparkgc Talk 07:32, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- That would work too.--Astros4477 (talk) 17:21, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
highlight the differences between SFA and DL versions
[edit]Maybe replace "identical" with "similar" and add a small section describing the layout difference? It doesn't seem accurate to say they're identical when they're mirrored versions of each other. Thoughts? Paganhobbit (talk) 12:20, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
- In this context, roller coasters that are "mirrored versions" of one another have identical layouts. --GoneIn60 (talk) 12:41, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
