Genre dispute

[edit]

If genre cannot be decided, a consensus must take place as per WP:Consensus. TBA is not a suitable genre. I will add the genre as depicted on the main article. If anyone reverts my edits then they must give proper reason as to why they have reverted the change. – Jerryteps 07:03, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have now blanked the genre until BMTH announces the genre or until the album comes out (or some sample songs). – Jerryteps 03:38, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The song chelsea smile an 8 foot sativa cover? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.153.81.145 (talk) 04:15, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No idea... but the song "chelsea smile" sounds very, very nu metal --Kmaster (talk) 15:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Same thing goes to "It Was Written In Blood"[1] and "The Comedown" [2] sound completely like Slipknot. --Kmaster (talk) 15:11, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds to me more like a heavier version of Every Time I Die. WeLsHy (talk) 03:50, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

well the comedown reminds me of slipknot, but then chealsea smile doesnt sound very 'nu metal' at all! it sounds abit like a metaled up gallows with a touch of keyboards, if anything bmth said about the album, that every song sounds different, and i think you tell that via the 3 tracks currently flying around the net, do we really need updates every second if someones leaked a track?, just close it till its release and have all the facts straight, the articles a stupid size for an entry on something that isnt even buyable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.111.85.215 (talk) 18:10, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the new album is COMPLETELY different from Count Your Blessing , i mean .. genre and sound changes are pretty normal , but it's usually becouse the band members changes or whatever , this time is an exception , i don't know why did these guys changed the way they wrote and compose their songs if the previous album was a complete success , do they know that most of the people that liked Count Your Blessings will hate the new album ? , pffft —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.161.212.23 (talk) 00:40, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Luis Dubuc

[edit]

In which song is he featured? The article as it is doesn't mention it. - XClaudiox (talk) 16:30, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

genre

[edit]

The album is generally alternative metal with the metalcore influence still held in place, they have followed in the ideas of the Eyeless Slipknot cover they done, Slipknot are alternative, and it includes experimentation - exactly what Oli Sykes himself has stated. Alternative contains experimentation, but is not experimental in complete.

and if Oli himself isn't a good source, then hopefully someone with a brain and ideas on music will write a review stating that on a reliable source.

and this album is IN NO WAY SCREAMO!! reviewers use the term 'screamo' to relate to anything post-hardcore or metalcore, any music containing screams is known as screamo. XTomScottx (talk) 00:09, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Screamo does describe a specific music genre similar to Post-Hardcore. Just because a song contains screaming, it doesn't mean the band is screamo. Billie Joe Armstrong screams in one of Green Day's songs, for God's sake. Screamo? No way.
You are right, this album isn't anywhere near screamo. Grungedude22 (talk) 15:53, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
genre dispute
[edit]

screamo is not an actual genre of music

it is a classification made my music labels!!

i can't be bothered to keep changing this genre, because i know what it is, theres too many idiots around and this genre dispute will go on forever until oli and bmth themselves actually list some bands as influences.

theres a blatant hardcore sound, that is heavier state metalcore? yes

and an alternative style, alternative metal, postmetal, nu metal? something like that

sort it out someone XTomScottx (talk) 11:01, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Man, you say "This album is no way screamo!". YOUR opinion does NOT matter here. Original research is against the rules and point of view is too. If reviewers say that, then they are considered more reliable than you - which they are, no matter how great you think your knowledge is, |reliable sources are the only way to prove your point. If a reliable review says it's screamo, that's what we list it as. Simple as that. kiac (talk) 11:37, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP:GWARRIOR. Find citations. Reviews, magazine articles, etc. Don't change the genre unless you have one. --Kingoomieiii ♣ Talk 12:55, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dudes, this is DEATHCORE. Look at the main BMTH article, It says "DEATHCORE". I even cited a source. Now someone PLEASE fix it and make this retardation all go away. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.76.169.37 (talk) 23:03, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Screamo?

[edit]

Ok that's just lame, whoever added that clearly has no idea what he's talking about. - XClaudiox (talk) 02:05, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

keep it simple stupid

[edit]

if i could put a genre on this album it would be hardcore punk. it sounds like a slightly heavier version of comeback kid or gallows. 99% of the death influence is dropped though. getting into semantics over genres and electronic/experimental influences is fucking stupid. label it as hardcore or metalcore on the main article and leave it at that. no need to uneccessarily complicate things, this isn't post or avante garde metal. and "indiecore"...what the fuck?

i think metalcore should be kept simple and maybe post-hardcore?

[edit]

1. "The Comedown" - metalcore, alternative
2. "Chelsea Smile" - metalcore, alternative
3. "It Was Written in Blood" - post-hardcore, metalcore
4. "Death Breath" - metalcore, deathcore
5. "Football Season Is Over" - hardcore punk
6. "Sleep with One Eye Open" - metalcore
7. "Diamonds Aren't Forever" - metalcore, alternative
8. "The Sadness Will Never End" - post-hardcore, metalcore
9. "No Need for Introductions.." - deathcore
10. "Suicide Season" - progressive metalcore, post-hardcore

all songs contain various genres, so best to either keep it at just Metalcore. or add post-hardcore/alternative metal. in my opinion this album has a lot of influences from various genres (see above), but adding loads will cause confusion, unless we can find citations... XTomScottx (talk) 15:21, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is 100% Original Research, and can't be added at all without a source. --King Öomie 01:15, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

internet fueds

[edit]

I think it would be worthy to mention something about all the fueds on forum sites across the internet about the band. With Suicide Season BMTH's fanbase has changed dramatically. Now lots of the hardcore fans and metalheads that were BMTH fans because of Count your Blessings dont like the band because of Sucide Season. And a lot of people who are fans of bands like Underoath like them now but not their old work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.102.154.152 (talk) 00:20, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you can find a reliable source such as a magazine, a news site or major publication reporting on it, feel free to add it. I assume you won't be able to, so it should probably stay on the forums. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 01:38, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reception

[edit]

Okay, whoever the douchebag fanboy who keeps altering the Professional Reviews section so it appears Q Magazine gave this four stars should fucking stop. They gave the album two stars, and I have the review in front of me. If it's altered again, I will scan the page and upload it onto the web and use it as a reference. --Tim Rampage 19:39, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Influences

[edit]

Okay, whoever posted that is just trying to be funny and obviously hates the band. Can someone permanently delete that every time I do it, it keeps coming back it's not cool and it's not funny 24.188.216.225 (talk) 06:54, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It only has two sources on the page, one of which is a review. It is essentially is a special edition as it has suicide season as a disc 1. Jonjonjohny (talk) 07:51, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Technically, this article does not quite meet the "start" criteria, as band infoboxes have been judged insufficient for "reference to at least primary personnel by name." However, there are enough other features here to justify a "start" rating by an act of WP:IAR. In order to rise above start, the article will need song author credit for the track listing and a personnel section as set out at WP:ALBUM. This personnel section must include all musicians--band members and guests--to meet C criteria, and all technical personnel to meet B crtieria. To meet B criteria, additional attention needs to be given to structure in the article. As tagged, the lead is too long and does not serve as a summary of the article. Material should be divided out as appropriate. I have some questions about sourcing, as well. This looks to be a blog post, since it says it was "posted by Dan." I am not familiar with the source, though, so I don't know if Dan is a professional contributor. In any event, once the album is released I presume additional sources will be forthcoming.

Article requirements:

Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums/Assessment for additional information on article class. To request a reassessment from the Album project, when concerns are addressed, please see "requesting an assessment". --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:18, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deathcore

[edit]

Deathcore was added a couple days ago but then removed by an anonymous today. The musical style section of this article starts of with, "Suicide Season departs from Bring Me the Horizon's previous deathcore sound. The band was subsequently credited for adopting a more eclectic style. and moving into a more "straight-up" metalcore sound." So having deathcore in the infobox would be a contradiction. Plus, the source that was added for deathcore didn't provide strong support for the genre. Pinging @Issan Sumisu: for discussion since you added deathcore. Bowling is life (talk) 02:49, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If there's other sources to contradict it then it's fine to not have it added, but "more deathcore era sound, featuring songs from their first two albums (‘Count Your Blessings’ and ‘Suicide Season’)" is definitely direct about saying the album is based in metalcore. Issan Sumisu (talk) 07:27, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Who was this album wrote for?

[edit]

In the lyrics of the suicide season song he says “It I brought him back I would get back the friend I once knew” (referring to the person he would be singing to) also “The day you lost him I slowly lost you too for when he died he took a part of you” 2600:8800:5C00:6F:F5A2:3F5E:8741:1522 (talk) 08:05, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
