Matroska
[edit]I think you have a mistake. Matroska can't handle fonts embedded in the scripts, Matroska handles fonts embedded in the "attachments" section of the mkv. I hope you understand my english. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.43.35.104 (talk • contribs) 20:41, 6 August 2006
- I have Matroska files with ASS format subtitles. How do I make Windows Media Player 10 display them? Subtitles are enabled but don't display. I have FFDSHOW installed so the AAC audio will play. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.136.145.215 (talk • contribs) 09:06, 21 September 2006

Spanish?
[edit]Is it really necessary to have all these weblinks to Spanish-language sites in English Wikipedia? Some of them are also off-topic: The x264 encoding tutorial hardly mentions SSA at all.--87.162.0.151 (talk) 13:39, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
VLC Player mention should be deleted for now!
[edit]VLC 0.98 does not support ASS, it simply does not work, fails to load and activate the ass file. VLC 0.99 often fails to start the loaded .ass stream, unless you pause and restart the movie and even then you get sync loss often and blocky or falling apart frame display. The .ass subtitle will disappear if you switch away from the VLC Pplayer windows and back. VLC developers are only PROMISING to fix these with version 1.00. 87.97.102.2 (talk) 20:53, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- VLC 1.0.0 is finally pubslished, but it still does not properly support .ASS! The lines of suntitle text do not have strict order in .ass, as each line carries its own display start and end time marking. Yet, VLC Player does not parse .ass files upon load, just runs them from the file beginning to the end in a braindead manner. If the subtitle text line are not time ordered in the .ass file, VLC will skip many of them. What works in Aegisub is a total mess in VLC. That's the sad truth. MPlayer processes .ass properly, but has problem with non-english (accented) charaters. 91.82.32.98 (talk) 18:49, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- As of 1.0.3, VLC has proper ASS/SSA support. 85.179.234.99 (talk) 10:40, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Sabbu
[edit]How is a program that's no longer being developed more "modern" than the defacto standard (Aegisub) for typesetting? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.101.134.25 (talk) 03:28, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- I delete such things as soon as spot them. (And I haven't spotted this yet.) They are called original research and weasel words. Both are not allowed in Wikipedia Fleet Command (talk) 12:54, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Alignment
[edit]The alignment parameter is not explained. Got stuck today with subtitles in the middle of the screen, could not figure out why. Apparently it was the alignment parameter, but even here on the wiki page it is not explained. Someone who has knowledge, please update the article... 87.195.236.195 (talk) 13:00, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Second paragraph is too much focused on fansubs?
[edit]Some streaming websites also uses this kind of subtitles. Crunchyroll requires "Familiarity with Aegisub and .ssa subtitle format" on their job listing page. Seems HIDIVE also uses this format, based on how they format their subtitles, but I couldn't find reliable sources on that.
Funimation also uses SSA: there are some episodes with subtitles with SSA tags which were not properly converted properly and show up in the video. 2804:14C:BBAF:5636:983C:7F6D:FF15:5B5F (talk) 01:30, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
