Primary Sources Tag

[edit]

I've removed the tag since people have added more references since this was brought up at the SAA AGM. I didn't add the tag in the first place, however!! Jon Dodsworth.

Primary Sources Tag: —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.216.212.193 (talk) 11:23, 24 April 2008 (UTC) I've added context (CMAS and CMAS-Card issuing) and referenced it.[reply]

Notability: As the British affiliate to CMAS, I suggest this is sufficient. However Googling "Sub Aqua Association" gives 3,900 hits, so there is scope for expansion with more external references if there is a strong reason to do so. --RexxS (talk) 03:01, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on article

[edit]

I did some editing and rewriting. I tried to order the sentences so the subject of this article always comes first. I also did some stylistic changes that may or may not be an improvement (reduced the use of acronyms, grouped sentences on similar subjects together etc.). My preference would be to get rid of the acronyms or at least reduce their use. They're fine in the intro, but unless you're familiar with these terms, I think referring to this organization as the "association" or by its full name, and the other one by its full name is preferable. Others may disagree.

I also sectioned the introduction from the body (now in two sections) of the article. I think this makes even short articles more organized and more ready for expansion. If I did anything that isn't for the better don't hesitate to change it back or to a new format.

Also, please read the article carefully to make sure I haven't changed anything to make the article inaccurate.

I have a few other notes: 1) there are a LOT of citations in a small space for citations 8-12. I think some of them could be included as external links since this part of the text isn't likely to be challenged. The other way to go would be to expand this section so the footnotes are spread out over greater content. 2) I noticed the article in the diving magazine had some criticisms and noted that the SAA's structure seems to be evolving. I think this would be good information to include somehow. And finally, 3) I set up the bottom sections as footnotes, sources and external links. I think the footnotes section provides sources for the text, the sources section provides more general sourcing for the subject, and external links is a good place to put links to related subjects. I put examples in the new sections, but didn't put everything that could go into the sections into them in that way. If someone thinks this is a good structure they can finish the job, otherwsie they can go back to the references and external links way it was, which is fine by me if someone thinks it's superior. That's all. ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:39, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
