Jean Trowbridge
[edit]I believe it would be appropriate to add Jean Trowbridge to the last of notable people from this town. She was winner of the 1936 National Spelling Bee (see [1] [2] Journal of the Iowa Senate 1937[3][4]). My 'bold' inclusion was reverted here with an invitation for discussion on the talk page. Winning the U.S. National Spelling Bee is a notable event and the hometown of the speller is often a subject of coverage. The item should be included under Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Lists_of_people and Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Lists#Adding_individual_items_to_a_list. I do not contend this an inclusion based on individual notability of the person to the extent of meriting a separate biography article, but for inclusion as the subject's hometown (which was reported on) is notable, making it a worthwhile and frankly interesting inclusion in this otherwise middling and barely informative article. E.g, you can find towns touting their old winners in places like this [5], who would rather NOT have the ability to learn that their hometown spawned a national spelling bee winner?--Milowent • hasspoken 13:23, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
