Order of judges' scores

[edit]

We don't need to keep saying the order the judges vote every week as it is at the top of the Songs section (if it is different we can say it with the relevant week(s)) --MSalmon (talk) 15:30, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Double entry of Alex Jones

[edit]

Why are there two rows for Alex Jones in the table of participants. I suspect this is an error but t may be misunderstanding the purpose of the table.78.147.235.131 (talk) 19:51, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see it --MSalmon (talk) 20:46, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing

[edit]

The article has very few sources so most of it comes across as original research. The sources on the couples not only confirm there entry but once eliminated a source is added to confirm they have left. I can see no reason or them to be removed because without then it's barely sourced. I have made this entry so it can be discussed if users wish to remove them as anonymous ips seem to be removing all sources from the article on a frequent basis. I have grouped the ref so it refers to the same page on the official website instead of all seperate refs, and I moved it to the top of each column (celebrity & professional partner). The source for every elimination can stay. --MSalmon (talk) 10:50, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Voting numbers?

[edit]

Have the BBC ever given any information about public voting figures? I would have thought that for "compliance reasons" such data would need to be accessible to the public in order to show fairness. The "adding togeher" of the judges' and public's votes has always sounded a little pointless to me. But I suppose that the margins could possibly be that small? Thanks. BridesheadRecarpeted (talk) 13:07, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, the BBC have not released any voting figures for any series --MSalmon (talk) 13:32, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am very surprised, especially as the money raised by calls to some shows goes to charity. Don't they at least announce the "total amount raised" for these shows, i.e how many calls were made in total? But how do they ever prove that the voting is not rigged? And to whom would they have to prove it? Thanks. BridesheadRecarpeted (talk) 14:07, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look here and it will give you all the information you need --MSalmon (talk) 17:44, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Well yes, that gives me a clear answer, but hardly "all the information I need". And I think it's a pretty unsatisfactory answer. We still don't know how this kind of live tele-voting is regulated, only that it's not covered by the Freedom of Information Act. I think if the public are voting, whether they are paying to vote or not, they have a right to know the exact outcome, even if it's after a series has finished. But it's a much wider question than one just for this single article. Thanks anyway. BridesheadRecarpeted (talk) 15:12, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That is all I can give you, contact Strictly if you want to find out more. --MSalmon (talk) 17:44, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dance times?

[edit]

How long do the dances last? Are they all exactly the same length in each show? I haven't been able to find anything at the main page. But I would have thought this was an essential basic fact for this, or maybe for the mian, article. Thanks. BridesheadRecarpeted (talk) 20:36, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Call Out Order

[edit]

I have removed the call out order because it is just fancruft trivia that doesn't belong in the article. --MSalmon (talk) 21:45, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agreed as it seems irrelevant trivia. This part of the show is the obligatory "dramatic tension-building reveal" moment when results are announced in no particluar order that surely does NOT belong in an encyclopedia. But is it useful in at least showing how judges and public votes match or not? BridesheadRecarpeted (talk) 21:55, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean judges and public votes match? --MSalmon (talk) 21:58, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This couple was placed last by the judges and was eliminated. cf This couple was not placed last by the judges but was eliminated. That's all (and that's not much). BridesheadRecarpeted (talk) 22:04, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said, just fancruft trivia --MSalmon (talk) 22:08, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am not a regular Wiki user with an account, but why is Holly listed as 4th in the actual scoring chart and Alex 5th? Shouldn't they technically both be listed as 4th since when Alex was eliminated first, Tess said, "In no particular order, the first couple leaving us tonight is...Alex & James"? We'll never know for sure, but I suspect Alex had more votes than both Holly and Jason and only went out because it was a double-elimination. For the three weeks prior, Alex had lower scores than either Holly or Jason but was kept out of the bottom 2 by the public. Obviously she didn't get the votes to stay given a double elimination, but what makes you think she got fewer votes than Holly? And since Holly was only one ranking higher than her on the judges' leaderboard, since viewer votes dominate, if Alex got more votes than Holly, then technically Alex would be 4th and Holly 5th. Again this is what I suspect, but isn't it better just to play it safe for posterity's sake and list them both as 4th a la a tie? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.103.7.165 (talk) 23:58, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Average Scores

[edit]

Since Swing dance is a dance and it is marked, it should be included. Is there a way round this problem? 92.20.162.252 (talk) 08:38, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The swing dance was not scored on a traditional 40 point scale and therefore should not be included. --MSalmon (talk) 09:45, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RFC impacting this page

[edit]

Hey! I've recently opened an RFC regarding some of the colours used in the scoring chart for this and several other articles. You can find the discussion here - please feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks! Remagoxer (talk) 01:35, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
