Restrictions on functions: Necessary for DEFINITION?

[edit]

The restrictions on and are usually important when dealing with strict-feedback systems because they allow backstepping to be used for stabilization. However, are they necessary for the definition of strict-feedback systems? That is, it seems like a strict-feedback system need not restrict these functions. However, a strict-feedback system WITH THESE ADDITIONAL ASSUMPTIONS can be stabilized with backstepping. Comments? Should these restrictions be pushed entirely into the stabilization section? —TedPavlic | (talk) 18:42, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
