- I uploaded a couple of pics, though neither of them is that great. I'll take some pictures of my own ears and add them on later, too. »»» Switchercat talkcontribs 21:11, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Merge from Earlobe stretching
[edit]Does anyone have any objections? From what I can see, this article pretty much focuses on earlobe stretching anyway, as it's the most common form of stretching. The information in it is almost identical to the information in this article. In fact, maybe earlobe stretching should just be deleted, it's so similar. I can't really find any unique information in it. Switchercat talkcont 17:23, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- There are other kind of stretching such as Nipple and lip plate , although less familiar to the general public, the article should be a general observation of those. If anything I opt to merge Into the general stretching article. --Procrastinating@talk2me 13:07, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, no, I certainly don't disagree with your thought that the article should have a broader scope. I was only saying that "earlobe stretching" is perfectly well-covered in this article, and does not merit another. I think I'll propose the other article for deletion, actually, as it doesn't have any original info. Switchercat talkcont 22:29, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Size Equivalents section
[edit]Is this section really appropriate or necessary? Not only are some of the objects likely not properly measured, but it would be incredibly stupid and to stretch with many of them. Also unlike proper steel tapers, they can't be sterilized. Having that section seems less like a reference and more like an invitation to readers (especially young ones) to start damaging their piercings by stretching with household objects, many of which lack a proper taper. I think we should remove the whole section, as it provides no real reference to the reader, or at least insert some text warning readers about the various dangers involved in stretching with household objects. pictures
[edit]I think this article really needs a picture or two of some stretched earlobes (besides the Tutankhamen mask), I think a stretched lobe at a smaller size (say around 8mm) and a larger one (an inch plus) would work very well. FreK
- This article had several pictures that somebody recently deleted under the guise of "cleanup". I've restored them. 69.47.232.35 (talk) 18:10, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
I've restored the septum picture because it's the only close up and the only non-earlobe stretching shown. This makes the article a bit heavy on pictures, but I couldn't bring myself to delete the pretty girls or the awesome old lady! --User:Aelffin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.47.232.35 (talk) 02:31, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Nudity
[edit]Although it's really a beautiful photo, I really don't think most people who come here looking for info on gauging are going to appreciate a boob popping up on their page. There's no need for that image, there are plenty of pictures that show gauging without nudity... :\ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.55.38.45 (talk) 16:44, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- I haven't seen that image, but who doesn't appreciate a boob? Or at least, who has something against it? 80.201.148.187 (talk) 08:54, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- I just saw the photo and coincidentally enough it was taken on my birthday. What's confusing though is why does she even have her top off? • GunMetal Angel 17:29, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Stretching Methods -> Silicone Plugs
[edit]A company called Khaos_Software are advertised by means of an ex<ternal link in this section. Unless you deem it to be appropriate, perhaps it should be removed?

Wrong usage of term "fistula"
[edit]I've noticed the term "fistula" used often in this article. In this article, it's used as if it means a hole in the skin, when really it means an abnormal connection between epithelium in at least two different organs or areas of the body. For example, an abnormal connection or "tunnel" so to speak between the small intestine and the peritoneum. I'd like so feedback on this and you guys can see fit to do what you think is right for the article. - Cyborg Ninja (talk) 05:57, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's definitely wrong from a medical perspective, but it seems to be the de facto standard term used within the body modification community. I don't really know what would suffice as a "technically correct" alternative for this article - is there even a medical term for a "two-way hole through skin"? -Wohdin (talk) 23:05, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Neutrality
[edit]This doesn't seem like proper Wikipedia tone. It's a useful article, but needs to be reviewed. It has more of the tone of a how-to guide than an encyclopedia. Teal 24.12.166.210 (talk) 20:14, 11 January 2010 (UTC) (Writer's edit: the rest of the article seems fine, it's just the section titled THE BASICS [sic] which is also formatted inconsistently with standard Wikipedia practice) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.12.166.210 (talk) 20:18, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
yeah someone added that in, it was full of incorrect information and typos so i highly doubt a professional wrote it, i took that out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.166.61.60 (talk) 22:18, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Hanging Gauge
[edit]There's an earring style sold as a "hanging gauge." I'm not sure if this is the correct term for it, but I feel it ought to be depicted somewhere on the page. I'll see if I can get a copyright-free photo of this earring type to add to the page.--HunnieBadger (talk) 04:34, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
Ötzi the Iceman
[edit]I don't see an academic source for the claim Ötzi the Iceman had a stretch piercing, despite there being plenty of direct sources discussing tattoos. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.156.247.222 (talk) 13:04, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
