old 2006 post
[edit]I have added templates to propose that this article be merged into Parliament Buildings (Northern Ireland) because I originally thought that Stormont Castle and the parliament buildings are the same thing. However having done further reasearch I'm not so sure. I think the castle may actually be something different entirely. However it seems a common belief that the building wikipedia refers to as 'Parliament Buildings (Northern Ireland)' is called stormont castle (for example searching stormont castle on google images leads to a number of pictures of the parliament building), so I will leave the merger proposal templates until some kind of debate is held. If it turns out that I am being stupid and it is infact well known that the two buildings are different things then fine, but I am confused and I think it's a real possibility other readers may be too.--Joe 1987 00:32, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Sorry I haven't explained myself well above. WHat I am trying to say is that I think the two articles should be merged and then the difference between the two buildings should be clearly explained in the article. The reason for this is because I suspect a number of readers (like me) are searching stormont castle, when what they are really looking for is the parliament building.--Joe 1987 00:43, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Not an option. They are totally different. It would be like merging 10 Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament, or The West Wing and Capitol Hill. They are totally different and have to be in separate articles. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 18:12, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
History
[edit]There's not much about its history - when was it built? By whom? Was it always meant to be governmental or was it a private home? For an important centre of power there's surprisingly little detail.Gymnophoria (talk) 12:24, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
