Reappeared but sourcing weak

After being deleted, this article has reappeared, and again, most of the references are from a fan-based site. Aside from the name of the tour and planned venues/dates, all of this article is lacking in reliable and verifiable sources. Urgent attention is needed to improve the quality of this article, or risk it being deleted again. JKW111 (talk) 05:56, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

This page should never have been deleted, as it was actually "Madonna's forthcoming tour" page which was deleted and was lacking in information. It resulted in this page deleted as it had been moved twice. This new page is referenced from Madonna's official website, I will add other website references. This tour is now confirmed. JWAD (talk)
I agree that article should stay (I added a news reference before it was last deleted), but it should not rely on madonnalicious etc as sources. i think there shoudl be plenty of better sources by now that things are announced. JKW111 (talk) 11:54, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Record numbers turn out for Madonna

This should be added:

Athens's concert was the concert with the most viewers. It touched the number of 75.637 viewers. Please add this at the site of sticky & sweet tour on the records because it is the only thing which is not in the records.

Madonna has given Switzerland's the biggest ever concert, eclipsing that of the Rolling Stones' show two years earlier. Altogether 72,000 fans descended on the Dübendorf former military airfield near Zurich, 10,000 more than the Rolling Stones attracted at the same venue in 2006. The singer was given a standing ovation as she was brought in on a throne at the start of the show. She made eight costume changes during the two-hour show and performed alongside 16 dancers and 12 musicians. Organisers Good News said they were satisfied with the event. They counted just 2,000 cars at the venue, with the vast majority of fans travelling on 130 extra trains put on for the concert. Police said the event ran smoothly with no serious incidents reported, although 220 people needed first aid. Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour is travelling to 50 countries on 50 trucks – 28 fewer than were required for the Rolling Stones. http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/news_digest/Re...14000&ty=nd Someone, please add this info. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.81.38.235 (talk) 09:02, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

London 13th

Whoever is considering re-adding London in the table for 13th September, PLEASE STOP. It is pure fan speculation. The 11th still has thousands of tickets on sale and Live Nation will not add another date which won't even be half sold. Stress

Should it be mentioned that Madonna has had many stress issues and was forced to "take it easy" by doctors? It affected her rehursals. It should also be said that she is rehearsing in Brooklyn, New York —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyler!161 (talkcontribs) 04:58, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I heard madonna was touring Australia in our summer in January 2009, does anyone else have any info?

Don't think shes coming to Australia. I've read on some website that Live Nation approached the Asian tour supporters and asked if Madonna could end her tour there in January 2009. I don't know if this is true but thats what I read. [UPDATE] I emailed Live Nation and asked if Madonna is coming to Australia or if she isn't. Doubt that they will respond to it. But worth a try. --BatterWow (talk) 06:59, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

I will be very surprised if it is confirmed. Madonna.com has a statement from Madonna that says she was excited by extending her tour of EUROPE! Australia is no where near Europe! It also says it will be a Summer tour... September, in the US is Autumn not Summer. It is confirmed that Madonna IS NOT COMING TO AUSTRALIA for the new dates. This page needed to be edited. It is not going to be confirmed this week as it has been officially denied by Live Nation.

Arthur Fogel, Live Nation's Chairman of Global Music and CEO of Global Touring/Artist Nation, advised TicketNews that despite reports in the Australian media that four concerts are scheduled for an September/October outing Down Under, Fogel said that there is no validity to the reports. Madonna is not touring Australia. Madonna has only toured Australia once -- back in 1993. (source: TicketNews) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.105.20.121 (talk) 06:41, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Setlist Madonna's official setlist for both legs of the tour.

"Candy Shop" "Beat Goes On" "Human Nature" "Vogue" "Video Interlude - Die Another Day" "Into The Groove" "Heartbeat" "Borderline" "She's Not Me" "Music" "Video Interlude - Rain (Here Comes the Rain Again montage)" "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" "Spanish Lesson" "Miles Away" "La Isla Bonita/Lela Pala Tute" "Doli Doli (Live interlude - gypsy folk song)" "You Must Love Me" "Video Interlude - (Get Stupid (saving the planet clips)" "4 Minutes" "Like A Prayer" "Ray Of Light" "Hung Up" "Give It 2 Me"

The final setlist has just been released on Madonna Tribe, a website that up until now has never been incorrect on a "rumour". They only post the most credible rumours, and have always been 99% accurate up until now. I believe that the set list that is on the page as of 20.40 GMT 5th August should stay as it is the most credible one to be announced so far. Of course we will see for definitely on August 24 but I'm willing to bet my next month's pay check that she'll play what's on the article!--Speedway (talk) 19:41, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Sellouts

I agree, just because I cant do it if not I would. Can someone add that information? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kenny09 (talkcontribs) 20:47, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

You can not list attendence of a show or if it is sold out or not until it is announced at the billboard.com boxoffice. This has been explained a 100 times. Sometimes shows that don't "appear" sold out with empty space at the venue can sometimes even be considered sold out. It depends on the predetermined number of tickets released by the promotor. Therefore stop adding these prediction of sold out or not until the boxscores are released by the promotor. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boytoyville (talkcontribs) 19:53, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Attendance/Boxscore

The boxscore data for some European concerts are fake! The German in Berlin and Düsseldorf concerts were NOT sold out! This was revealed by the German tour promoter Marek Lieberberg to the German press. See the following articles (in German):

Facts for the London Wembley Stadium concert should be double-checked too. On a number of fans' online forums (www.madonnatribe.com and www.drownedmadonna.com) fans reported about large seat-sections in the stadium being empty. Madonnatribe.com reported that 40 minutes before the show stadium-staff were moving people from the back of the pitch to cover all the empty seats nearer to the stage. Please check: http://www.madonnatribe.com/news/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3034 additional info on the Wembley concert here: http://www.madonnatribe.com/news/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3032

The Austrian state-run broadcaster ORF reports on its website that "nearly 50,000 tickets" were sold for the concert. The box-score data states 57,000 tickets sold.

It is also strange that the concert at Rome's Olympic Stadium is stated as "sold out" with 57,000 sold tickets, when the same venue for Madonna's Confessions Tour had 63,000 people attending her show in 2006.

It seems to me, that like Live Nation is providing false informations about what shows were actually sold out, and the actual attendances. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clandestino1975 (talkcontribs) 13:04, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

The Boxscore for Madonnas concert are not fake, different shows have different numbers of seats and Madonnas shows only had 57,000 seats available for the show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.11.92.153 (talk) 23:56, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

True. They are not fake. For the olympic stadium, for example, the confessions tour was OBVIOUSLY a 100% different stage, and different length, the horses on the sides were probably less thick and the close-up screens were squarish unlike the rectangular ones at the new tour. (and she used giant M's in sticky and sweet for the sides in stadiums, which were longer than the gigantic horse structures) so the entire stage would be positioned in a different place, so less tickets would be sold. For the wembley stadium, same thing. obviously, the stage turned out to be larger or smaller or something, (since the "stage" includes the close-up screens and the giant M's which are positioned differently in every stadium show) they had to move people.

An an another great example is the Cardiff Millenium Stadium. She sold 60,000 or something for Confessions and 38,000 or something for Sticky And Sweet, for some reason (most likely cuz of the size of the stage) the entire stage (again, the entire stage means the giant M's and the close-up screens) were larger, so they positioned it in the MIDDLE of the stadium, but it was positioned near the end of the stadium for the 2006 Confessions Tour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lololove (talkcontribs) 22:41, 29 March 2009 (UTC) Please read this article regarding the Cardiff concert: http://www.betweenplanets.co.uk/2006/06/26/madonna-uk-tour-not-sold-out/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.225.149.72 (talk) 19:01, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Even though the stage for S&S is larger than the Confessions stage, it is physically not possible that it would take up the space for nearly 10,000 people. The fact that some concerts were not sould-out, as reported by official media outlets in the respective countries, reflects that Live Nation is providing fake informations. The same fake information have been now provided for the 2009 italian concerts.

Cardiff Millennium stadium was indeed half empty due to poor ticket sales, some other factors that contributed to this were that it was a bank holiday weekend in Wales, and due to this all accomodation in Cardiff was booked up months in advance, also South West Trains decided to cancel any services that would have got people home from Cardiff after the concert, this disuaded many people from the South West of England from attending. The information from Live Nation is definitely made up to say it was sold out, in fact even the Confessions Tour in Cardiff wasn't sold out to capacity crowd - they were advertising tickets on the radio the day of the concert.

Please have a look at any reputable source about the capacity of Milan's San Siro Stadium and Udine's Friuli Stadium, and you'll notice the difference. Again, the S&S-tour stage cannot possibly take up so much space. As for the Zaragoza concert, there have been numerous reports that the show was NOT a sell-out (on fan-websites, press) etc. That was probably due to the fact, that the concert was announced very late - weeks afterannouncement of the Madrid and Barcelona shows. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.53.13.145 (talk) 07:18, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Another interesting article on the reliable fansite madonnatribe.com: http://www.madonnatribe.com/news/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=4513 According to local medias, the Slovenian concert was cancelled because only 7,000 tickets were sold for the 65,000 capacity venue. Live Nation has denied these reports, stating "unforeseen logistical difficulties". As people in the tour business well know "logistical difficulties" usually mean "poor ticket sales". I think it would be time to un-lock the Sticky And Sweet Tour wikipedia article, so that additional information can be shared, that isn't only the official Live Nation statements. Information about the controversy regarding the actual ticket sales, and the score data provided by Live Nation to Boxscore. There are now enough reports from various media outlets, that reliably report that some concerts were anything but sell-outs. Please see the above links regarding the concerts in Düsseldorf, Vienna, London as well as the Spanish concerts. Furthermore, the tickets for the two french concerts at Paris-Bercy and Marseille (now cancelled) were sold to a very reduced price weeks before the events. In the french media it was also reported that this was due to the poor ticket sales at both venues. Again, please allow an additional section to the Boxscore/Ticket Sales page on wikipedia, because this needs to be mentioned. Wikipedia is about sharing reliable information, and not just spindoctoring propaganda by fans and concert promoters. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.225.149.72 (talk) 18:47, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Like a Prayer - not Felix, but Meck

"Like a Prayer" contains elements of "Feels Like Home" by Meck feat. Dino (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Meck_(musician), which itself heavily samples Felix's "Don't You Want Me".

This is because -as you surely know- Like a Prayer contains an early line "I hear you call my name, and it FEELS LIKE HOME" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.64.134.221 (talk) 08:58, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Untrue statement! Chords from DYWM are being played, not FLH Dancefloor royalty (talk) 17:39, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
It is in fact a sample of "Feels Like Home" by Meck feat. Dino which uses a sample of Felix. During the performance a male voice sings "Feels Like Home", so it is the Meck version, not Felix. JWAD (talk)

Gimme More

Shouldn't Gimme More be credited as included in Human Nature? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.59.80.25 (talk) 19:46, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

That is true that Gimme More should be credited, I feel love from Confessions tour was credited and it wasnt a song of Madonnas. Also... Would someone gladly add another date to Rio! She is definately playing two shows there and two in Buenos Aires! I would add the dates, but its LOCKED! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.11.92.153 (talk) 02:09, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

For just one line? Tons of songs are sampled throughout the tour, including Nelly Furtado. "Like a Prayer" has a sample, "Into the Groove" has a million. "Rain" has the Eurythmics. There's a lot. 76.124.165.253 (talk) 15:47, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

I think it SHOULDNT be credited. I mean, its just "It's Britney Bitch". If you where gonna credit it, Might as well say "Love Song" was featured in "Hung Up" (which has MORE of a line in it). Britney should only be credited as appearing in the video (which it already has). Josemrdj (talk) 19:51, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Guys: I think Gimme more, do must be credited on the set list, why? because even though it's just one line, it's taken directly from the track, it's an element from the song and it's not a special Britney feature for Human Nature because it was already existing. It's completely different thing to Love song/Hung up lyrical use, I mean, Hung up uses the same phrase from Love Song, but it's all brand-new and previously unreleased vocals, Hung up does not contain excerpts, elements or samples from Love Song wereas Human Nature comes with this little part from this other song (Gimme more) The It's britney bitch! line, comes straight from the song Gimme more, it's taken directly from the track, so that's why it must be credited —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thermo90 (talkcontribs) 03:35, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Oh, User:Rich Farmbrough did it 16 minutes after I requested. He operates User:SmackBot, so I dare say that SmackBot hit the same problem and he fixed it without realising that I had requested the same thing. Thanks anyway :) ~ Ameliorate! U T C @ 21:56, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Samples

These are the correct samples for the tour:

  • "Intro/Candy Shop":
  • Comment: I don't think Britney saying, "It's Britney Bitch" in a video that she appears in is worthy of credit. I don't hear any musical elements of Gimmie More added to Human Nature other than that one line. KM*hearts*MC (talk)
I agree, its just ONE small line. I mean, might as well say "Love Song" from Like a Prayer was featured in "Hung Up". It SHOULDNT be credited. Josemrdj (talk) 19:52, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

It's completely different to Love song/hung up guys, the It's britney bitch line, comes straight from the Gimme more track, It must be credited

  • "Like a Prayer" : "Feels Like Home" by Meck - throughout the song a male voice sings "Feels Like Home"; this is the correct sample, not "Don't You Want Me" by Felix; "Feels Like Home" samples this song. JWAD (talk)

Request Songs

Like a Virgin was first performed in Duesseldorf, then in Rome and Frankfurt.

In London fans requested 'Gambler' but she told them that she doesn't remember the words to it and insted perform Express Yourself.

In Valencia, Spain she performed Dress You up.—Preceding unsigned comment added by ProiosJR (talkcontribs) 19:52, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

  • I propose that the request songs be mentioned in the form of a list, also mentioning the city where it was requested, and, in the case of multiple dates in the same city, the date of the show should also be stated. Does anyone else agree to this? --Astraldust (talk) 15:41, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

In BERLIN she performed a few words of "HOLIDAY", but the MAIN song was EXPRESS YOURSELF! it's false in the list! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.128.202.210 (talk) 15:29, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Madonna has NOT performed Causing a Commotion on this tour at ANY request section so far, the only mention of it was Perez Hilton requesting it to her backstage and she said No. Please remove it from the list and furthermore, all request songs should be in the chart alongside the dates/venues. Tom958 (talk) 04:14, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Tom

On the second show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Madonna picked a fan named Daniel in the audience and let him request a song. He chose 80's classic "Dress You Up". http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=18DvFTBZctY

REMOVE BRITNEY FROM 'BACKGROUND' SECTION, RELOCATE TO ADDITIONAL NOTES. $#@

SOMEONE PLEASE REMOVE from the 'Background' section the factoid about Britney's video guest appearance in "Human Nature," and RELOCATE IT to "additional notes" after the setlist section. The way it currently appears makes it look like its' own suite within the tour, when it is in fact a mere footnote appearance within the "Pimp" section of the show!

  • I agree with you. It DOES make it look like it's part of the show (as in a section).

I have added it to "Additional Notes" Josemrdj (talk) 23:50, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Intro Candy Shop

It contains sample of Human Nature and Die Another Day? - where? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.99.162.0 (talk) 20:42, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

  * It samples 4 Minutes, Give It 2 Me and Human Nature.

LISTEN TO THE STUDIO! Its very clear! I dont know why people keep on deleting that!

Also, the intro has it's own name: "Sweet Machine" as it says on the back of the tour book (where Madonna credits crew & personnel.) Josemrdj (talk) 04:39, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I cant find the Human NAture sample in the intro, and the candy shop at Hung Up. In what moment?

    • See? I told you that it samples "Manipulated Living". In fact, the intro is basicly the whole song!.

And it DOES NOT sample "Die Another Day", it samples "Human Nature" in a non-verbal way (just music) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Josemrdj (talkcontribs) 16:56, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Dedications

As far as it is mentioned that "You must love me" was dedicated once to Lourdes, you should also mention that she dedicated "You must love me" as well in Berlin. She dedicated it to the person who gave her her first record deal. The person was in the audience that day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.75.193.164 (talk) 18:41, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Show Outline

Someone included the following in the outline:

"She sings the first verse and chorus before moving into a rock version of "Hung Up", with Madonna stating, "In exactly 28 moves, the Queen with trump the King" (a reference to chess)."

This was only said once, 28 shows before the end of the tour, alluding to when she was planning to divorce. Should it be in the general tour outline? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.72.140.65 (talk) 14:09, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

All Brazilian media is reporting that the DVD recording is going to take place in Brazil as it also did in Argentina, since the Argentine audience wasn't as responsive, and because of bad weather conditions, Madonna's staff is going to choose between both locations, the one where the overall show experience stands out higher. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Greenteagod (talkcontribs) 16:48, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Please include proposed Venezuelan date

There was controversy also in Venezuela, because many local newspapers announced a concert in Caracas on december 3rd. The newspapers said the venezuelan company “Solid Show”, started negotiations with Madonna, that included the visit of Live Nation executives to Caracas, to approve all details about the concert. However, after weeks of uncertainty for fans and local press, and despite having the guaranties paid and the logistics ready, “Solid Show” confirmed that Venezuela could not be included in the tour, because another country with priority in the south american leg, in this case Argentina, asked for the date of december 3rd. The announcement of the venezuelan date never was speculation. That information was widely published by many recognized venezuelan media.

New dates

The Hamburg venue is NOT the HSH Nordbank Arena. It's the Trabrennbahn Bahrenfeld, or Trab Arena Bahrenfeld. It's a harness racing arena that has been previously used as a concert venue for the Rolling Stones on their '98 Bridges to Babylon Tour (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Bahrenfeld#Sports). This shouldn't even be up for discussion as Madonna's official website states the correct venue.

I'm not going to do anything to them, but do we need those little national flags? They're looking kind of out of place. Unconscious³ (talk) 17:25, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Record sellouts - Biggest concert in the Iberian Peninsula?

Not really. U2 played to 81,000+ people in Spain in 2006. I'm not saying that was the biggest concert in the Iberian Peninsula, but it's enough to prove that Madonna's wasn't, either. Unconscious³ (talk) 19:41, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Who keeps editing out "Human Nature" and replacing it with "Die Another Day" on the setlist info for "The Sweet Machine"????

STOP DOING IT! It doesnt sample that song!!!!

Also, VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT SHOULD ALSO STAY is that the intro, called THE Sweet Machine heavily samples a song from the Donnie Darko soundtrack.

I think that should be kept in the description

Sticky & Sweet Total Gross

The total number is $270,655,518 exactly (thus far). The previous article does not include the final dates from South America that was reported by Billboard just about a week ago. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.181.124.114 (talk) 06:12, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I total gross is NOT 242 million it's 270 million thus far. The article that was previously cited only included grosses reported in 08 & album sales from that year. It's common knowledge that billboard only reposts figures from year end to year end. South American tour grosses were reported past year end and beyond that if you use common sense at least and add up all the official boxscores that have already been cited you get to the 270+ figure. Thats when you add up the OFFFICAL boxscores already cited. The correct number when adding up all the boxscores is US$ 270,544,518. Do not change this back to 242, actually read what the article says before this sourse is used. It's not saying it's the final and up to date tour gross but Madonna's income from the previous year.

WHY WAS THIS CHANGED BACK TO 242 MILLION AGAIN? Do people NOT READ the articles people site. You simply ADD the backscores and you get 270,655,518 million for the current reported total. This NEEDS to be changed.

Ok first of all Billboard gets their info straight from the boxoffices, their data is correct. What the article says...

"Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour took in $229,886,340 at the box office"

This includes all dates that have commenced thus far. Madonna's tour has halted until July, there have been no extra dates, this article was published an entire month and two weeks since Madonna's last show so I don't what your contention is supposed to be. Second of all YOUR math is incorrect. I've added up the box scores for for all inclusive dates three times and and they do not equal 270, matter of fact being generous and and rounding every number up, you'd get about 266.88. You see how that works? Users original research/math is not reliable. Wikipedia works on sourced material, and if you do not have a source for your numbers then a user with source material can revert or edit it and they are well with in wikipedia's guidelines. PhoenixPrince (talk) 05:28, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

^ Of course billboard is correct, but you added wrong 3 times apparently. They are reporting the offical data that was been reported up until last year only in the article. Billboard establishes a year end reporting time for boxscore data usually ending in Nov. Some of the South American shows were reported only a couple weeks ago(look at the retrieved dates for boscore data from after the shows in Argentina already on the chart...that is why the current billboard article does not site the up to date gross, because the additional data will be in next years report. Therefore to get the updated gross one must add all the offical boxscores that have been published which currenly is 270,655,518 and will be that until the tour starts up again in July. I don't know how you are adding, but you are obviously adding incorrectly. Here is a link to a table showing how all the boxscores have been added correctly . You have added wrong. You need to be careful when adding that many numbers. It clearly equals 270,655,518 exactly using all the properly cited boscores aleady posted. Link http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y250/rufoop/untitled.jpg. Also to futhur my point, here is the offical press release from Madonna's official website that was citied by AP that the tour grossed approx 280 million. http://madonna.com/news/index.php?mode=list&page=2. This needs to be changed.

  • To get the total tour gross, all you need to do is add up the gross of the shows in each city as officially reported by Billboard Boxscore. And that in no way adds up to 229 million, it adds up to 270 million. Unconscious³ (talk) 20:10, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

{{editsemiprotected}}

Not done: please be more specific about what needs to be changed. Leujohn (talk) 06:29, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

It's been explained; the sum of the tour gross is $270,655,518 - exactly! You can count for yourself, but that's the final sum, so far. It's not $229 millions as it stated right now, but $270,655,518. Please change it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.181.124.114 (talk) 12:39, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Just a quick note to say that the final tour gross of $280 million which is stated in the opening of the page also includes merchandise sales in the final total, that is why there is $10 million difference in the box office and the final gross. Just incase anyone wanted to know. JWAD talk 10:42, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

How can it be only $10 millions? She made about $66 million with Confessions tour on merchandise ($260-$194), so I assume she made something close to this amount from this tour as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.181.124.114 (talk) 08:57, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

^ The boxscores by billboard and madonna's team have only reported ticket sales in relation to the gross. There has been no offical word on merch sales. They are not included in any totals. The closest thing we have is billboard in an article a week ago speculating that Madonna made around 18 million for merch thus far previous to the 2009 leg.

The boxscore for Rio is wrong. The cheapest ticket was US$75, but the current boxscore shows an average ticket significantly lower than that price. I personally believe that the $7.3 million made for each show to be $14.6 million. That would put the gross to about $278 million. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.212.73.11 (talk) 19:30, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

^ The boxscore is correct per billboard. Madonna's management reports the exact numbers. Even if tickets were being sold at the public onsale orginally with the cheapest ticket 75 dollars that doesn't mean they dropped the price of the last few tickets remaining during the last few days or hours in which case it would lower the average ticket cost and the cheapest ticket offered would no longer be 75 dollars. It's a common touring practice.

23 shows ar Madison Square?

I just noticed that since 2001 Madonna has only played MSG a total of 21 times, not 23. Where did Live Nation get the information after 23 shows? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.212.73.11 (talk) 02:50, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

4 during SST, 4 during CT, 6 during RIT, 5 during DWT, 3 during GS, 1 during WTGT and 2 during VT which would make 25 shows at MSG since her career so I assume that at least 2 of those shows were sold out as the press release states 23 sold out performances at MSG. Lyonhunter (talk) 23:06, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Madonna has done 27 shows at MSG not 25. she did 6 during CT, not 4. Why does the boxscore say 57,000 people were there when it was 27,000 when published by billboard. Regardless if there were more people there than the predetermined soldout threshold of tickets sold, the record of tickets sold is 27,000. If there was a change in the publishing of this figure than a citatoin should be made to the changed article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.86.238.159 (talk) 23:42, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Latin America

Latin America is not a real political division. I am moving the Mexico shows back into the North America section and renaming the section with the Argentine, Chilean and Brazilian shows South America. Also, do we need "Europe 2nd leg"? "Europe" will do just fine. Just by looking at the dates, anyone can see it's another leg. Unconscious³ (talk) 06:33, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Rock Werchter?

Madonna is NOT playing the Rock Werchter festival, she is only using the festival grounds as the venue for her concert. I've changed the Werchter venue back to "Werchter Festival Park". Unconscious³ (talk) 19:03, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Cancellations

Madonna has announced on her website that the second Manchester show and Hamburg show are cancelled, and the Oslo show (29) was rescheduled until 28!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.212.73.15 (talk) 14:10, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Don´t cry for me Argentina fragments in River Plate Stadium

During the performance of don´t cry for me Argentina, it could be seen in the screens, including the one hanging on top of the scenarium, the image of the argentinian flag. This asumes that the proyections where changed for this show, which is quite unusual in a Madonna show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.125.102.24 (talk) 21:15, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Venue names

I think Valle Hovin is an ice skating rink, not a stadium, so I'm thinking it's incorrect to refer to it as "Valle Hovin Stadium". In any case, the word "stadium" isn't part of its name, and any source you check will refer to it only as "Valle Hovin", so I've changed the name back to that. SOUTHWEST ASIA?

Who is adding Istanbul Concert to the date list. Istanbul concert is not going to happen because of Ramadan. So please remove it from the list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.213.64.206 (talk) 17:10, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Michael Jackson 2009 Medley

The songs sampled were three (in this order):
-Billie Jean
-Another Part of Me (short excerpt)
-Wanna Be Startin' Something (short excerpt)

Someone add "Another Part of Me" as an excerpt along with "Wanna Be Startin' Something" in the setlist.

A sample from "Jam" can be heard right before the "Billie Jean" part. 89.216.160.86 (talk) 21:13, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

"Celebrate" sampled in "Holiday"

If her new song "Celebrate" is sampled or not, we can't confirm that yet, because Madonna says celebration at the beggining.
Also, "Celebrate" is STILL UNRELEASED.
By the way, who did remove "Everybody" from the samples? That song is sampled at the middle of the song, just before the Michael Jackson medley.

Please, anyone fix those errors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WannaBeSomething (talkcontribs) 14:17, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

*It IS sampled! The track leaked today and I can clearly hear it during "Holiday".

Josemrdj (talk) 06:28, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

    • Yes, that's right. I didn't know that it was really sampled until I heard the leaked track. Sorry!

"Get Stupid" backdrop video was edited for this 2009 leg

The backdrop video of the interlude "Get Stupid" was edited for this year. McCain was removed from the comparation between him, Hitler and Mugabe. Also, Obama is featured in the middle of the video, whereas the last year he appeared in the end (instead of him, the phrase "The World Needs You" with the Earth as the background is displayed at the end).

"Mickey" sampled in "Dress You Up"

I was watching a video of the new "Dress You Up" (as well as listening to some audio) and I noticed that "Mickey" is sampled in "Dress You Up". Josemrdj (talk) 06:31, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Who is keeping that awful picture of Madonna playing Borderline as the tour pic for this article???

Honestly some really nice person keeps putting the cool picture of Madonna in her throne for the article pick and someone keeps putting that crappy picture of Madonna playing Borderline with her guitar up. That picture has been there for like a year now and it would be nice to have a better picture up. The one on the throne better represents what the tour is anyway and it's been shown in the media more. Someone please change the picture! Please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boytoyville (talkcontribs) 02:41, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

I agree with boytoyville Josemrdj (talk) 17:27, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
The image on the throne is non-free and is not allowed when equally visible free images are available. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:52, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Ljubljana show cancelled

This morning, it was confirmed in a press conference by Lupa Promotion Ltd., the Croatian promoter co-operating with Live Nation for the organization of the scheduled show in Ljubljana on August 20, that the show has been cancelled, officially due to unforeseen logistical problems. Eventim.si, the website of the ticket agency, lists the show as cancelled[1]; however, Madonna.com has not confirmed the cancellation of the show.--130.226.70.114 (talk) 10:50, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
