This article is written in British English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, defence, artefact, analyse) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.
Large amounts of text about his artistic career have been deleted. He is regarded as a significant artist and is mentioned in many articles/Historic England listed building etc with regard to his art. Maybe take the approach of marking for improvement rather than just deleting everything which is not helpful. Those of us interested in 20th century art need this aspect of his life to be represented more adequately. Currently there is too much emphasis on a very small part of his life (the war years) and not enough on his other achievements. This makes this biography unrepresentative of his life and needing considerable improvement.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Thurzajones (talk • contribs) 05:24, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but citation to reliable, verifiable sources, immediately, is essential to the encyclopedia. Without verification, anyone can add any claim and nobody can be sure it is genuine. Also, you need to sign your posts with four tildes (~). Chiswick Chap (talk) 06:17, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Chiswick Chap I am just learning how to contribute. Deletion of a large part of his life is not helpful you could have simply asked for the references and I would have added them. Thurzajones (talk) 06:27, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely wasn't to know that, nor should editors need to guess what other editors might or might not be about to do, we aren't mindreaders. The rule is, new claim = fact + citation that proves it: it's simple and it always works; and nothing else does. Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:15, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
