Prof

[edit]

Someone has added the title "Prof" to Steve Webb. I think it has happened before and been reverted on the basis that he doesn't currently hold a Professorship (although he has done in the past). I don't have a strong feeling on this, but those with more knowledge of etiquette in these things might have a view. SMeeds 09:29, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. In fact there are two points: first, as he doesn't hold a professorship (and hasn't for ten years) he shouldn't be addressed as professor; secondly, even if he were a professor, we don't normally include the title in the lead, and it shouldn't be part of the bolded name (as it's not part of the article's title). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:49, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It shouldn't be there, he doesn't hold a professorship now, and hasn't been granted emeritus status, it's incorrect to title him Professor. :p AJMW (talk) 10:56, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Minister of State for Pensions

[edit]

This page needs to be updated substantially to cover his new Governmental position as Minister of State for Pensions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.108.215.220 (talk) 21:55, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A great deal of the text on his role as Minister of State for Pensions is not neutral, e.g. "...sees pensioners receiving the full state pension £380 per year better off than under Labour ... creating a fairer single tier pension." Perhaps someone with a better knowledge of the topic than me could describe his contribution briefly and neutrally? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.191.231.74 (talk) 14:19, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
