External Link Suggestion
[edit]Same Stephanie Shirley recently gave a biographical talk about her life and her ideals, 'Give and Take': http://www.gresham.ac.uk/event.asp?PageId=45&EventId=732 I think that it is clear that this should be added as an external link as it adds so much to what is in this article or what is accessible through the links already in place. (I hesitate to put it up myself as there is a possible conflict-of-interest issue, as I am associated with Gresham College, who hosted the lecture). Family
[edit]I have mentioned, cited to a Shropshire newspaper, that her interest in giving to autism causes was in memory of a son, named Giles, who ultimately died after an epileptic fit aged 37. I have been unable to find out who the father was, if she had other children or had been married.Cloptonson (talk) 15:01, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- I later notice the son is already mentioned, later in the page, but his death age is given as 35. I have decided to delete my insertion.Cloptonson (talk) 15:06, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
In this interview in BBC Hard Talk here she makes clear it is her son with her husband, and that her only child is now dead. No years given. He was autistic, and reached a point where they had to hospitalize him. Her son is why her main philanthropy is for autism and autistic children. Perhaps a family life or personal life section could be added, starting it with her marriage. - -Prairieplant (talk) 09:19, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
DSS's memoirs...

- @Maximilian Schönherr: Revised. Thanks! And thanks for the nice picture - much better than the old one. —Luis (talk) 22:48, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
- By the way, with Visual Editor + Google Books it is *extremely* easy to add cites to books these days :) —Luis (talk) 22:49, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
- i know, luis, but i've deactivated the visual editor a while a go because it did odd things on my iPad. Maximilian (talk) 08:52, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
