[edit]I removed the word "corrupt" that was being used to describe his challenger as there were no sources and the adjective is not neutral. Also, a large portion of this article looks to be slightly modified from the subjects official biography. Also much of this content is not important and does not belong in an encyclopedia. If people are really curious about these details they can go to the campaign website. --L1AM 05:38, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Interestingly, a user, CFilson has made a majority of the edits to this page. Any relation to Steve Filson? Also, the word "corrupt" was added in this edit by Grazon. Hmmm... --L1AM 05:47, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, sorry. Apparently Pombo really is corrupt. My bad. I've tried to reword the accusation though so there is evidence and it is less POV. I still think a lot of this stub does not belong on Wikipedia though. I don't know which template to use: NPOV, {{importance}}, or {{advert}} but am going to go with advert for now. I wish the best of luck to (fellow Eagle Scout) Mr. Filson but this article needs to be cleaned up. --L1AM 06:06, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Sorry
[edit]I was just trying to add content to the article, and I thought biographical content was okay. I am related to him, and I am new to Wikipedia. CFilson
- Most folks have some bias when it comes to editing most articles. The challenge is to present relevant information that is factual. If you're a relative, that makes it much more difficult, but it's still possible. Do avoid words like "corrupt" and "faithful" (as in "faithful service") - you should always be asking yourself if it's possible to PROVE something. (Which is why, for controversial matters, best practice is to say that "X said" or that "critics charge that", rather than simply asserting that something in dispute - by reasonable folks - is in fact true.)
- As to article length, I think this article is certainly not too long, now, and could be justified to be perhaps 50% larger. After that, much of the information would presumably be minor; this is, after all, someone whose most distinguishing characteristic (as far as encyclopedia readers go) is that he is challenging an incumbent Congressman.
